Hızır Pasha and His Family

The Hızır Pasha named in the entry was the brother of Yörgüç Pasha and governed Amasya after him. His descendants were known as the Hızır Pashazades, and his son Mehmed Pasha died around 1494-95 (sources give 1494 or 1495). Hızır Pasha died in 1466; he had a complex of a zaviye, madrasa and imaret built in Amasya, along with a bath and a mill at Ladik, and he founded a mosque and a tekke at Samsun. Hacı Beyzâde died in 870 [1465-66]; Hızır Pasha's death is also recorded as 1466. The two deaths are very close in time. Hüsameddin's statement that Hızır Pasha was deeply grieved at his grandson's death is consistent with this closeness; but since the sources do not give the month of Hızır Pasha's death, the order of the two deaths could not be verified.

The Question of the Cemetery

Hüsameddin says that Hacı Beyzâde is buried in the cemetery west of the Hızır Pasha Mosque. Today in Amasya, Hızır Pasha's grave is shown as one of three graves in front of the tomb in the complex of his son Mehmed Pasha; the first belongs to Hızır Pasha, the second to Mehmed Pasha, and the third to the Halveti sheikh Habib Karamânî. Whether this graveyard is the same place as the cemetery Hüsameddin mentions is not stated in the sources.

The Madrasa at Hakâla

No information was found in other sources on the madrasa that Hacı Kâsım Bey had built at Hakâla, or on the identities of Hacı Mehmed Bey, Abdullah Bey and Kâsım Bey. The name Hakâla is mentioned as the old name of Yolpınar village, now part of Suluova; since this appeared only in a search summary, it could not be verified.
