Ranks and Posts

Ahmed Bey's steps in rank follow the order set by the Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediyye: from captain to major, then to lieutenant colonel and colonel. According to the same source this army fought the Russian army in 1829; the "Russian war" in the text may be this war, but Hüsameddin does not give the year. The year 1242 [1826-27] is the date the text gives for entering the regular army. In 1834 a reserve army, the Redîf-i Asâkir-i Mansûre, was set up, and after that the phrase "Asâkir-i Nizâmiyye" began to be used in place of "Asâkir-i Mansûre". The phrase "nizâmiyye askeri" in the text agrees with this second naming. Ahmed Bey's situation after 1258 [1842-43], when he became commander of Amasya and director of the police, could not be detailed, because no record of this post was found in the sources.

The Event of 1261

Hüsameddin does not explain what this event was. In another entry of the same book (Ahmed Efendi, Fazlızâde) an event called the "Tabib Vak'ası" is mentioned for the same year; it cannot be told from the text whether the two expressions point to the same event. The searches made could not find a record of an uprising or a similar event in Amasya in 1845. The nature of the event could therefore not be verified. It is known that the 1844-1845 temettuat survey was carried out in Amasya in these years; to link the event with the survey would only be a guess and is not supported by the sources.

Kışlacık and Other Sources

No reliable source was found for the present-day counterpart of the settlements called Kışlacık around Amasya, so the present name of the village could not be verified. No record of Ahmed Bey was found outside Hüsameddin either.
