Mecitözü and the Süleymâniyye Madrasa
For a long time Mecitözü was a district of the Amasya sanjak; at the end of the nineteenth century it is counted as one of the sanjak's eight districts. Today it belongs to the province of Çorum; before it was attached to Çorum in 1916 it was for a long time under the administration of Amasya, within Sivas. Among the historic buildings of the district are the Elvan Çelebi Mosque (1352), its tomb and its bath. Since Hüsameddin does not give the name of Ahmed Efendi's village, it is not known which village it was.
The terms "ders-i âm" and "mücâz" refer to receiving an icâzet from a teacher in order to teach. The title "şeyhülulemâ" used for Ömer Efendi suggests that he was counted among the most senior scholars of Amasya. The Süleymâniyye Madrasa is not mentioned in the list of twentieth-century Amasya madrasas that Telli reports; it may have been a small institution built by a benefactor in Narlıbahçe. This guess could not be verified.
No information on Ahmed Efendi, on Sipâhizâde Ömer Efendi, on Türedîzâde Süleyman Ağa, or on the madrasa and cemetery of Narlıbahçe was found in other sources.
