In Modern English

He was from Köprü. He was the son of Osmancıklı Çelebi Seyyid Hacı Mustafa Efendi, the former mufti of Köprü. After completing his studies in Amasya under the well-known hadith scholar Hıfzızâde Hâfız Hacı Osman Faik and the distinguished scholar Îydîzâde Hacı Mustafa Akif Efendi, he returned, gave general lectures, and became a madrasa professor (müderris) at the Fâzıl Ahmed Pasha Madrasa.

After that he became a member of the Köprü council of notables (ayan) and served as mufti many times, earning great renown. Together with Haseki Hacı Mehmed Efendi, one of the notables of Köprü, he administered the district of Köprü well, and he died in 1187 [1773-74] after having been dismissed from office. The Mufti of Köprü

Ahmed Efendi's teacher Îydîzâde Hacı Mustafa Akif Efendi also appears in the previous entry as the teacher of a student from Merzifon; this shows that the madrasas of Amasya drew students from the surrounding districts. No information was found in the sources consulted about the founding or the professors of the madrasa known as Fâzıl Ahmed Pasha.

Hüsameddin writes that, besides his learning, the mufti had influence and wealth, and that he administered the district together with Haseki Hacı Mehmed Efendi, one of the notables of Köprü. Hasekizâde Hacı Ahmed Ağa, from the same family, is mentioned three entries earlier as a notable of Köprü who died during the years of the Russian war. No information on this person was found in other sources.
