Şeyhülislam Dürrî Mehmed Efendi
Hüsameddin presents this mufti's father as the cousin of Şeyhülislam Dürrî Mehmed Efendi. Dürrî Mehmed Efendi is the first member of the Dürrîzâdes, the family that produced many scholars and six şeyhülislams in the Ottoman state. He passed from müderrisship to the kadıship, and was appointed kadı of Egypt in 1707, of Mecca in 1716 and of Istanbul in 1720. He was dismissed in 1721, appointed kazasker of Anatolia in 1726 and then kazasker of Rumeli, became şeyhülislam on 31 October 1734, and died in 1149 (1736). It is reported that he suffered a stroke in February 1736. The Nurizâde family's claim of kinship with this family is known only from Hüsameddin's transmission; since the encyclopedia entry on Dürrî Mehmed Efendi mentions neither Merzifon nor Nurullah Efendi, this link could not be verified.
The Buildings in Merzifon
The text states that the Şifaiyye Madrasa in Merzifon was built by Hacı Ali Ağa bin Ahmed Ağa and that the Çelebi Sultan Mosque had a kürsü sheikhship. No information was found in other sources on these buildings. The hijri year 1217 corresponds to about 1802-03, and 1252 to about 1836-37; since the mufti's age at death is given as eighty, it can be calculated that he was born around 1137. This calculation is an inference made from Hüsameddin's own data.
