In this post his scholarly superiority came to light. The Pervâne Bey Mosque

The building, also known as the Burmalı Minare Mosque (Mosque of the Twisted Minaret), is among the oldest Turkish mosques of Amasya. According to its inscription, it was built in the time of the Seljuk Sultan Gıyâseddin Keyhusrev II (1237-1246) by Ferruh, one of his emirs. According to the information Hüsameddin gives, İzzeddin Mehmed Pervâne Bey, son-in-law of Ferruh Bey, drew up a waqf deed in 699 [1299-1300], and the post of mütevelli later passed to the Mü'eyyedzâdes. The mosque was damaged by an earthquake in 999 [1590-91] and burned in 1011 [1602-03]; the mütevelli Mü'eyyedzâde Pîrî Çelebi had the building repaired and a wooden minaret built. When it burned again in 1143 [1730-31], Hacı Ahmed Efendi had it repaired and a stone minaret built.

Semavi Eyice, who wrote on the mosque, bases these dates on Hüsameddin and notes that he cites no source for any of the information. Eyice also does not find Hüsameddin's equating this mosque with the Mahkeme Mosque described by Evliya Çelebi sufficiently convincing. He also finds it hard to accept that the twisted minaret dates from the 1730s; in his view the minaret belongs to the mosque's own period or the early Ottoman period.

In the entry the repair of the minaret is attributed to the mütevelli Yahyâ Efendi. In the record Eyice relays, however, it is written that after the fire of 1143 [1730-31] the repair was had done by Hacı Ahmed Efendi. The two accounts may mean the same repair; no document explaining this was seen.

The mosque stayed in ruin for a long time and in the 1930s was used as the agricultural implements depot of the Ziraat Bank. It was repaired and opened to worship in 1962, and its domes were covered with copper in 1974. The upper floor of the mausoleum beside it was made into a library in 1147 [1734-35] by Hıfzızâde Hacı Osman Fâik Efendi; the books were later dispersed.

The Mü'eyyedzâdes

The Mü'eyyedzâdes are a family that, besides the Pervâne Bey Waqf, also undertook the mütevelliship of the Yâkub Pasha (Çilehâne) Dervish Lodge: when the line of the first mütevelli died out, the mütevelliship of this lodge passed to Mü'eyyed Çelebi and his children. In the text, Yahyâ Efendi's becoming mütevelli of the Yâ'kûb Pasha waqf in 1140 is a continuation of this family tradition. No information on the poems Ahmed Efendi wrote under the pen name "Hamdî" or on his work "Mu'înü'l-vâ'izîn" was found in other sources.
