The Çilehâne Lodge and the Ya'kûb Pasha Mosque
The Çilehâne mentioned in the text is the Yâkub Pasha Dervish Lodge in the Pîrler district of Amasya; it is known among the people as the Çilehâne Lodge. Pazarlıoğlu Yâkub Pasha, beylerbeyi of Ankara, had this lodge, attached to the Halveti order, built and endowed in 815 [1412] for the Mufti Sheikh Gümüşlüzâde Abdurrahman Çelebi. Its waqf deed was registered in February 1413 by the kadı of Amasya, Mevlânâ Rükneddin Mahmud, nicknamed Sarı Kadı. In the middle of the building is a masjid, and around it are halvet rooms and dervish cells. The building, damaged in the 1939 Erzincan earthquake, was repaired in 1967.
After Gümüşlüzâde, the sheikhdom of the lodge passed to a series of sheikhs that the people of Amasya call the "silsiletü'z-zeheb" (golden chain). Among the later sheikhs are named Sheikh Mehmed Efendi (d. 1099/1688), followed by Seyyid İbrâhim Efendi and his son Seyyid Mehmed Efendi. The person Hüsameddin calls "the Çilehâne sheikh es-Seyyid İbrâhim Efendi" may be the same as the Seyyid İbrâhim Efendi in these records; but the source gives no definite match. The mütevelliship of the lodge also passed to Mü'eyyed Çelebi and his children; this family is the Mü'eyyedzâdes of entry 642.
Whether the "Ya'kûb Pasha Mosque" of which Hâfız Ahmed Efendi was custodian is the masjid of this lodge has not been understood with certainty from the sources at hand. No information on Ahmed Efendi was found in other sources.
