The Yörgüç Pasha Waqf

The waqf named in the text as having a mütevelli concerns the Yörgüç Pasha Mosque in Amasya and the buildings around it. According to its inscription, the mosque was built by Atabeg Yörgüç Pasha in 834 [1430]. The building belongs to the group of mosques with a zaviye and tabhane; a madrasa that has not survived is thought to have existed, and on one side there is the founder's mausoleum. It stands out for its stonework and its arches of colored stone.

Hüsameddin ties Ahmed Bey's family to Yörgüç Pasha by calling him "ced" (grandfather); that is, he is saying that this family descends from the founder of the waqf. That on Hacı Ömer Bey's death (1141) he took up the post jointly with his paternal cousins Mustafa and Mehmed Beys shows that the mütevelliship was run in common within the family. The text does not state through which generations the kinship between Yörgüç Pasha and the family passed, nor where Mustafa Bey's waqf was. No information on Ahmed Bey or on his son Ömer Bey was found in other sources.
