Hacı Kutlu Şâh and Hacı Şâdgeldi Pasha

Hacı Şâdgeldi is the second son of Hacı Kutlu Şâh, who ruled in Amasya, Tokat and their surroundings. He was born and raised in Amasya and studied there. According to one study, his father Kutlu Şâh appointed him emir of Amasya in 760 [1359]. After Kutlu Şâh was defeated and killed by the Karamanids in 762 [1360-61], Alâeddin Ali Bey, of the line of Amasya's former emir, seized the city; Şâdgeldi first fled to his uncle at Turhal, soon gathered strength and in 763 took Amasya back. The territory under his rule at this time comprised the Amasya, Tokat and Canik districts; afterwards he also took the Osmancık, Çorum, İskilip and Sinop areas.

Şâdgeldi's emirate lasted from 1359 to 1381, more than twenty years. He was one of the emirs who acted independently as the Eretnids weakened; he clashed with Kadı Burhaneddin, who rose from the Eretnid vizierate to the emirate of Sivas, and lost the battle fought at Tokat in Ramazan 783 [1381] and was killed. It is stated that he was buried in the Halfet Gazi Cemetery in Amasya and that his name and date of death are written on his tomb. His second son Ahmed Pasha succeeded him; this family's emirate of Amasya ended in 805 [1403]. Şâdgeldi was also an emir who pursued learning: his fellow student Cemaleddin Aksarâyî dedicated two works to him, and a work called ed-Dürerü'l-mensûre is attributed to him. A large part of this information is, in the study cited, based on Hüsameddin's Amasya Tarihi.

İnacoğlu Bayat Bey

In the text Bayat Bey is named as one of the emirs standing at Şâdgeldi's side. No information was found in the sources consulted about Bayat Bey himself, his father Emir Şerefeddîn İnac Bey, or the "İnacoğlu" family. His date of death, after 768 [1366-67], rests solely on Hüsameddin's record and could not be verified.
