The Sunkuroğlu Family

Hüsameddin's record in this entry, when combined with the later entries, gives one branch of a family tree: Sunkur Bey, his son Süleyman Bey, his son Hacı Îsâ Bey, and his sons Kör Bâyezîd Bey and Yahşî Bey (named in the entry on Bâyezîd Pasha). Yahşî Bey's son Bâyezîd Pasha is, by this reckoning, Kör Bâyezîd Bey's nephew; the text confirms it by saying "he was the uncle of Bâyezîd Pasha". The encyclopedia entry written on Bâyezîd Pasha, however, gives his father's name as Yahşî but states that, although he is called Amasyalı, an Albanian origin is also probable; that is, Hüsameddin's genealogy does not fully coincide with this possibility in other sources. No information on Kör Bâyezîd Bey himself or on his sons Sunkur and Pîrî Bey was found in other sources.

The Emirs of Amasya

With the weakening of the Eretna principality in the second half of the fourteenth century, emirs such as Hacı Şâdgeldi in Amasya, Hacı İbrahim in Sivas and Şeyh Necib in Tokat behaved like independent rulers. Şâdgeldi, whom Kör Bâyezîd Bey served, is one of these emirs. Hüsameddin names Şâdgeldi's son Ahmed Pasha as beylerbeyi of Amasya and says that Kör Bâyezîd Bey later passed into Ottoman service; in which years this transition took place is not stated in the text.

The Battle of Kosovo and the Date of Death

According to Western sources the Battle of Kosovo was fought on 19 Jumada al-Thani 791 [15 or 28 June 1389] and ended in a decisive Ottoman victory. At first the Ottoman left wing collapsed, but victory was won through the effort of Yıldırım Bayezid on the right wing; Murad I was wounded on the battlefield and killed. The year 791 given by Hüsameddin agrees with this battle. That "Sultân Murâd Hünkâr" means Murad I is clear from the year of the battle. Kör Bâyezîd Bey's place in the battle and which wing he was on are not in the text.
