Baba İlyâs and His Line
Baba İlyâs-ı Horâsânî, at the head of the genealogy in the text, most probably migrated to Anatolia with Turkmens from the realm of the Khwarazmshahs, which was destroyed during the Mongol invasion. According to the Menâkıbü'l-kudsiyye written by his grandson Elvan Çelebi in 1358-59, he settled in the village of Çat near Amasya, now known as İlyas village, opened a lodge and began to spread the Vefâiyye path. In 1240 he left the actual command of the uprising prepared against the Anatolian Seljuk sultan II. Gıyâseddin Keyhusrev to his deputy Baba İshak; the first defeat of the uprising was suffered at Amasya, and Baba İlyâs was captured in Amasya Castle by the forces of Mübârizüddin Armağanşah and executed. The movement spread after his death through his son Muhlis Pasha and his other deputies. Âşıkpaşazâde is also a sheikh descended from the same line.
The Oğuzhanlı Genealogy
The Muhlis Pasha whom Hüsameddin gives in the genealogy is the son of Baba İlyâs. The links after this name, that is Oğuz Han, Dündâr Bey, Evliyâ Bey and Yahyâ Bey, could not be verified in a separate source. Whether the byname "Oğuzhanlı" rests on the Oğuz Han named in the genealogy or on some other origin is likewise unclear. Bâyezîd Bey's death around 841 [1437-38] and the fact that he was one of Murad II's emirs are known only from this record.
The Gift of the Sahîh-i Buhârî
Hüsameddin writes that Bâyezîd Bey presented a copy of the Sahîh-i Buhârî to Mevlânâ Şücâaddîn İlyâs Çelebi of Amasya. No information was found in the sources examined on Şücâaddîn İlyâs Çelebi or on this gift, so the record could not be verified. No information on Bâyezîd Bey was found in other sources.
