The Uncle, Bâyezîd Pasha
The former grand vizier in the text is Bâyezîd Pasha of Amasya; his father's name was Yahşi. Because he was born in Amasya, the sources call him Amasyalı, though an Albanian origin is also probable. During Çelebi Mehmed's term as sanjak bey in Amasya he was among his close retinue, and he stayed loyal to him during the Interregnum. In 1413 he was appointed grand vizier and beylerbey of Rumelia, and he concealed Mehmed I's death for forty days, as the sultan's will required, until Prince Murad arrived. After Murad II's accession he was sent against Düzmece Mustafa; when most of his soldiers went over to the other side he had to surrender and was killed in 1421. His grave is at Sazlıdere. The deeds of endowment for the mosque, soup kitchen and madrasa he built in Amasya date from between 1418 and 1420.
The statement that Îsâ Bey died in the war against Timur in 804 agrees with the year Hüsameddin gives, since that war is the Battle of Ankara in 1402. Bâyezîd Pasha's brother Hamza Bey is known to have been one of the sea beys and to have resisted on land the Venetian forces that bombarded Lapseki in 1417; the sources do not state how the Îsâ Bey named in the text was related to Hamza Bey.
The Nephew, Bâyezîd Bey
No record of Bâyezîd Bey, the subject of this entry, was found outside the text. Which sanjaks he was bey of, his year of death after 853, and that he was the son of Îsâ Bey could not be verified. No information on Bâyezîd Bey was found in other sources.
