In Modern English

She is from Kedağra. She was the daughter of Taşân Beyzâde Hasan Bey and the wife of Sultan Murad II. Sultan Murad Khan II had married her at his second accession. Her son Şehzade Sultan Hasan was born of her. In the month of Muharram of the year 855 [February 1451], at the accession of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, her son Şehzade Hasan was drowned and she herself was sent to Kedağra.

She has a tomb and charitable foundations in the fortress of Kedağra; she endowed her properties as a waqf and set them aside for pharmacies and for the allowances of staff. It was learned from the waqf records that she was the daughter of Taşanzâde Hasan Bey and the wife of Sultan Murad II, from the audit of accounts held on 7 Rebîülâhir 1251 [1835] during the term of Enverîzâde Mehmed Said Efendi as judge of Kedağra.

Kedağra

In the state yearbooks of 1855-56, Kedağra appears among the districts attached to the sanjak of Amasya as "Kedağra, otherwise Vezirköprü". The Kedağra of the text is thus present-day Vezirköprü. No information was found in the sources read on the tomb of Emine Hatun in the fortress of Kedağra or on the pharmacy waqf.

What Hüsameddin Reports and Other Sources

Murad II abdicated in favor of his son Mehmed II in August 1444 and came to Edirne between May and August 1446 to take the throne again; the "second accession" is this period. When he died (1 Muharram 855 / 3 February 1451) Mehmed II succeeded him; Hüsameddin's "Muharram 855" agrees with this.

In the lists of Murad's wives and children, no wife named Emine and daughter of a Taşan Bey is found. Among the known wives are Hüma, Mara Branković, Hatice Halime, Hundi Ümmügülsüm and Yeni Hatun. Şehzade Hasan is recorded as having died young (1444) and been buried in Edirne. Hüsameddin, on the other hand, says Hasan was drowned at Mehmed's accession. The son put to death when Mehmed the Conqueror took the throne was Murad's young son Ahmed (May 1450 - 18 February 1451), whose mother was Hatice Hatun. It is possible that the event Hüsameddin describes has been confused with this prince, but this is an inference and is not supported by any document.
