The Line of Descent
The name "Celâleddîn" does not occur in the text; according to the first sentence, the Mevlânâ Celâleddîn of the heading is the son of Sinâneddîn Yûsuf Çelebi. The four-generation line of descent is Şâdî Bey, Emrullah Çelebi, Mes'ûd Çelebi, Yûsuf Çelebi and Celâleddîn. The sentence in the previous entry (299), "His son, Mevlânâ Mes'ûd Çelebi, was also one of the scholars," agrees with this chain. Emrullah Çelebi's birth year is given as 722 [1322] and Celâleddîn's year of death as 857 [1453]; between the two dates there are about 131 years.
The Halfet Cemetery
The cemetery's name may be connected with the Hilfet Gazi Madrasa and Tomb; this is an inference. An encyclopedia entry consulted writes that this complex is in the Şamice quarter, on Torumtay Street, in the centre of Amasya, and that according to the madrasa's inscription it was built in 606 [1209-10]. But it is not stated that Hüsameddin's "Halfet Cemetery" is the same place as this complex, and the gravestone is not mentioned in the sources consulted. For this reason the grave's location and the present state of the stone could not be verified.
Searches on the transfer from the district of Canik to the naibship of Amasya, Yûsuf Çelebi's years of service, his son Şemseddîn Mehmed Çelebi and Sinâneddîn Yûsuf Çelebi turned up no information. Hüsameddin's text remains the only source for these men.
