Rising in the finance mektubî office, he joined the hulefâ (finance clerks) and then became tezkireci. From there he was sent to the provinces in 1126 [1714] as defterdar of Crete. The Defterdarship of Crete

The man of this entry is referred to in the book only by the nickname "Hacıköylüzâde"; no detail is given beyond his name and his father's name. The defterdar who ran the financial affairs of Crete under Ottoman administration was the official responsible for the province's records of revenue and expenditure. The date 1126 that Hüsameddin gives is a reminder that Crete was still in Ottoman hands at that time; the island had been conquered in 1669 after a long siege.

In the surveys made, no information on Hacıköylüzâde İbrâhim Efendi was found in any source other than Hüsameddin. The information that the family name derives from a village near Amasya and that his father was one of the palace kapıcıbaşıs is taken only from this book.
