Yörgüç Paşazâde Alî Bey'in oğludur. 927 senesi rebî'ulevvelinde Amasya sancağı beyi oldu. Karahisâr-ı Şarkî'den gelip eşkıyâyı ta'kîbe gitdi. Çavuşân-ı dergâh-ı âlîden Çavuş Mehmed Ağa, mîrlivâ kâ'im-makâmı oldu.
Bu esnâda Sivas vâlîsi Şâdî Paşa Konya vilâyetine nakl edilip Trabzon beylerbeyi Lala Sinan Paşa bin Mehmed Sivas vâlîsi oldu. Trabzon'dan Sivas'a giderken Amasya'ya gelip on beş gün kadar oturdu.
Amasya beyi Mehmed Bey, Zünnûn muhârebâtında büyük yararlıklar gösterdi. Tokat beyi Hüseyin Bey'le bezl-i mesâ'î ederek Zünnûn'u fevkalâde sıkışdırdı. Sonunda Divriği taraflarına kaçırdı. Kendisi de dönüp Amasya'ya geldi.
928 senesi muharreminde Amasya kadısı Osmân Efendi'nin yerine sâbık Kürdistân kazaskeri unvânıyla Diyârbekir kadısı olan Mü'eyyedzâde Abdulhay Efendi Amasya kadısı olarak geldi. Cemâziyel-ûlâsında Mehmed Bey Alman harbine me'mûr olduğundan yerine Sinan Bey Amasya beyliğine ta'yîn edildi.
In Modern English
He is the son of Yörgüç Paşazade Ali Bey. In Rabi' al-Awwal of the year 927 he became sanjak bey of Amasya. He came from Karahisâr-ı Şarkî and went to track the brigands. Çavuş Mehmed Ağa, one of the palace couriers, became deputy sanjak bey.
At this time Şâdî Pasha, governor of Sivas, was transferred to the province of Konya, and Lala Sinan Pasha (son of Mehmed), beylerbeyi of Trabzon, became governor of Sivas. On the way from Trabzon to Sivas he came to Amasya and stayed about fifteen days.
Mehmed Bey, bey of Amasya, showed great service in the wars against Zünnûn. Joining efforts with Hüseyin Bey, bey of Tokat, he pressed Zünnûn extremely hard. In the end he drove him off toward Divriği. He himself turned back and came to Amasya.
In Muharram of the year 928, in place of Osman Efendi, the kadı of Amasya, Mü'eyyedzade Abdulhay Efendi, who with the title of former kazasker of Kurdistan was kadı of Diyarbekir, came as kadı of Amasya. In Jumada al-Awwal, since Mehmed Bey was assigned to the German war, Sinan Bey was appointed in his place to the sanjak bey's office of Amasya.

A Bey of Yörgüç Pasha's Line
That Mehmed Bey's father Ali Bey is called "Yörgüç Paşazade" suggests that they descended from Yörgüç Pasha, the famous governor of Amasya in the early Ottoman period. Yörgüç Pasha was at Amasya as lala of Prince Murad in the time of Çelebi Mehmed, later served as vizier under Murad II, and in 1428 had his mosque built at Amasya. This mosque is still counted today among Amasya's early Ottoman buildings; it has cut-stone walls, an inverted-T plan, and red and white marble was used. No other record showing Mehmed Bey's tie to Yörgüç Pasha was found in the sources I read; the connection is inferred only from the epithet "Yörgüç Paşazade" in his name.
The Governorship of Sivas and Lala Sinan Pasha
In a study listing the beylerbeyis of Sivas, Şâdî Pasha appears as beylerbeyi of Sivas in 1518, and Lala Sinan Pasha, who followed him, in 1521. Hüsameddin's account dated 927 (1521) agrees with this order. I could not confirm in the sources I read the information that Şâdî Pasha was transferred to Konya.
Zünnûn and the Problem of Dates
It is narrated that Mehmed Bey drove Zünnûn off toward Divriği. In the sources the Baba Zünnûn rising is dated August-September 1526; Hüsameddin, however, writes that Zünnûn was also active in this region in the years 927-928 (1521-1522). As noted in the preceding entries, this difference between the two accounts could not be resolved in the sources I read. It therefore cannot be said definitely whether Mehmed Bey's "wars against Zünnûn" are the same as the rising of 1526.
The text does not specify which campaign the phrase "German war" means; no other record was found in the sources I read of which campaign Mehmed Bey was sent on.
Judicial Officials at Amasya
The entry writes that Mü'eyyedzade Abdulhay Efendi was brought to the kadılık of Amasya in place of Osman Efendi. The Mü'eyyedzade family is one of the long-established scholarly families of Amasya; a well-known name of this family, Mü'eyyedzade Abdurrahman Efendi (1456-1516), served as kazasker of Rumeli. No other information on Abdulhay Efendi was found in the sources I read.
