Amasya mutasarrıfı Sinan Paşa, eşkıyânın istîsâline hasr-ı himmet ederek sancağın her tarafını dolaşıp korudu. Fakat 927 senesinde Mecidözü civârında tenkîlâtına devâm ederken bir pusuya düşüp eşkıyâ tarafından şehîd edildi. Yerine Karahisâr-ı Şarkî beyi Mehmed Bey ta'yîn olundu. [291]
In Modern English
He is Yularkısdı Sinan Pasha, the vizier of Sultan Ahmed. He too had been raised and had grown strong as the slave of Hızır Pasha. In Safar of the year 925 he became guardian of Amasya. He came and set about pursuing the brigands.
That year Gümüşlüzade Pîr Muhyiddin Mehmed Çelebi, who had long been forgotten in the dungeon of Yedikule, was pardoned and set free by the special order of Sultan Selim Khan, and of his own wish went to the Hejaz. Âlî Çelebi writes in his Künhü'l-Ahbâr that on his release he heaped heavy curses on Sultan Selim.
In the middle of the year 925, since the mufti of Amasya, Gıyâseddin Paşa Çelebi, had become molla of Jerusalem, in his place Hatîb Kâsımzade Muhyiddin Mehmed Efendi of Amasya, formerly the teacher of Sultan Ahmed and professor of the Çifteler Madrasa at Edirne, became mufti of Amasya and professor of the Sultâniyye.
Shortly after Muhyiddin Efendi's arrival, the kadı of Amasya, Mü'eyyedzade Abdülkerim Efendi, died. İbrahim Efendizade Osman Efendi became kadı of Amasya in his place. Abdülkerim Efendi was one of the great scholars.
On the ninth day of Shawwal of the year 926 Sultan Selim I died; in his place his eldest son Sultan Süleyman Khan sat on the Ottoman throne. Gümüşlüzade Pîr Muhyiddin Mehmed Çelebi also came to Amasya that year and was reunited with his wife and children.
Sinan Pasha, the mutasarrıf of Amasya, working with all his strength to clear out the brigands, went about and guarded every part of the sanjak. But in the year 927, while continuing the cleansing operation around Mecidözü, he fell into an ambush and was martyred by the brigands. In his place Mehmed Bey, bey of Karahisâr-ı Şarkî, was appointed.

The Life of Yularkısdı Sinan Pasha
In the later volumes of Hüsameddin's book Sinan Pasha's name appears as Sinâneddin Yûsuf Pasha. According to the biography there, he came to Amasya at a young age and served Hızır Pasha, then was presented to Bayezid II and raised in the palace. He was among the beys at Bayezid II's accession (886), was taken prisoner in the Egyptian war in 893, and after the peace was released and entered the retinue of Prince Ahmed, governor of Amasya. In 917 he took part in the Şahkulu battle in the retinue of the commander Atik Pasha, and in 918 he was imprisoned when Prince Ahmed was strangled. The same record reports that on Sultan Selim's coming to Amasya on the return from Çaldıran he applied to him and was pardoned and was charged with living inside the Hacı Hamza Fortress as guardian of the Hacı Hamza Pass, that in Safar 925 he came as guardian of Amasya and sanjak mutasarrıf, and that in 927 he fell into an ambush near Mecidözü and was martyred. This information agrees with the account in this entry.
The same biography writes that Sinan Pasha had a mescid at Çukurbahçe and a bathhouse at Selağzı in Amasya, that he had his waqf deed for Amasya drawn up in 917, and that he later had a mosque, a school and similar buildings built in the town of Hacı Hamza. According to his waqf deed, the administration of the waqf was to pass first to the children of his son Mustafa Pasha, and when their line died out to the nephews' descendants. In Hüsameddin's own time this waqf was still in their hands.
An article on Sinan Pasha's role during the Şahkulu rising draws a different picture: when the forces Nur Ali Halife gathered in central Anatolia in 1512 marched on Amasya, "Yularkastı Sinan Bey," sent by Prince Ahmed, governor of Amasya, to suppress the rising, failed. That is, the pasha's first encounter with the Kızılbaş movements begins well before 925.
Gümüşlüzade and the Amasya of the Time
In the later volumes of Hüsameddin, the Gümüşlüzade family appears as a family of scholars and sheikhs regarded as a source of honor for Amasya, one of whose members was a Çelebi called by the title Şeyhülislam. That Gümüşlüzade Pîr Muhyiddin Mehmed Çelebi of the entry was sent to Yedikule as Sultan Ahmed's sheikh was narrated in the previous entry. Here it is learned that he was set free by Selim's special order and first went to the Hejaz, then returned to Amasya in the year Süleyman ascended the throne and was reunited with his family. Hüsameddin bases this information on Âlî. The Künhü'l-ahbâr is the work Âlî Mustafa Efendi (d. 1600) wrote as a world history; I could not confirm in this work the account of the curse that Hüsameddin relates.
Selim's Death
The entry writes that Yavuz Sultan Selim died on the ninth day of Shawwal 926; in the relevant TDV entry as well the year of death is given as 926 (1520). The same entry notes that his son Süleyman, who succeeded him, was the only son alive at the time of Selim's death.
