Zilka’de evâilinde Amasya’da ber-vech-i tekâ‘üd Sultân Bâyezîd evkâfı mütevellîsi olan esbak Şam Beylerbeyi Dizdârzâde Mehmed Paşa, Hüsrev Paşa’nın himmetiyle Mar’aş beylerbeyi olup, mirlivâlardan Mahmûd Paşalı Hasan Bey, evkâf-ı Sultâniyye mütevellîsi oldu. In Modern English
He was from Basra. He was a son of Seydî Beyzâde Ali Pasha of Amasya, former Governor of Basra, famous as "Türk Ali Pasha." The order that he had become sanjak bey of Amasya on the first day of Şevval 1037 [1627–28] came at the beginning of Zilkade.
At the beginning of Zilkade, Dizdarzâde Mehmed Pasha, former Beylerbeyi of Damascus, who lived in Amasya in retirement and was mütevelli of the Sultan Bayezid waqfs, became beylerbeyi of Maraş with the help of Hüsrev Pasha; Hasan Bey of Mahmud Pasha, one of the mirlivas (sanjak governors), became mütevelli of the sultanic waqfs. At this time Tayyar Mehmed Pasha, Governor of Damascus, came again as governor of Sivas.
At the beginning of Muharrem 1038 [1628–29], since Kadı Abdülcelîl Efendi's term of office had ended, Mehmed Efendi son of Şeyh Muharrem Efendi became kadı of Amasya. His brother Mustafa Efendi was a man known to Hüsrev Pasha's imam and his close circle.
On the thirteenth of Safer, Tayyar Mehmed Pasha, Governor of Sivas, was appointed to the Governorship of Erzurum. Halil Ağa of Bolu, who was removed from the janissary ağalık, became beylerbeyi of Sivas. He was called "Demir Kazık" (Iron Stake).
When Hüsrev Pasha forced Abaza Mehmed Pasha, who had rebelled in Erzurum, to listen to his word, the Province of Karaman was given to Mağra and Mehmed Bey, among the beys of Georgia whose usefulness in these wars had been seen, and the beylik of Amasya to his eldest son Hüftâdî Ahmed Bey.

The Telhis Hüsameddin Relays
In the note at the foot of the page, Hüsameddin writes that he relays verbatim from the Ahkâm Defteri the draft of the summary (telhis) Hüsrev Pasha submitted to the sultan concerning Mehmed Bey's appointment. According to it, the sanjak of Amasya was given to Mehmed Bey, formerly sanjak bey of Kaban in Basra; Mehmed Bey had come from Basra, gone back and forth to Istanbul several times, served on the sultan's road and sent soldiers from Basra. The telhis is dated the beginning of Şevval, while the day the order was written is recorded as 4 Zilkade 1037. The document shows that the appointment was made on the ground of service on campaign. No information was found in other sources on this telhis or on Mehmed Bey's post in Basra.
Hüsrev Pasha's Stay at Tokat and the Appointments
Mehmed Bey's appointment is a result of the stay at Tokat described in the previous entry. According to what Halil İnalcık relays, Hüsrev Pasha reached Tokat in June 1628, stayed seven weeks, and from there marched to Erzurum and besieged Abaza Pasha. The siege began on 6 September 1628, and Abaza Pasha surrendered on 22 September 1628. This is the operation Hüsameddin calls the "wars."
The Governors of Damascus, Sivas and Erzurum
According to Abdülkadir Özcan, Tayyar Mehmed Pasha became beylerbeyi of Damascus in Safer 1037 (October 1627) and in Muharrem 1038 (September 1628) beylerbeyi of Erzurum in Abaza's place. Hüsameddin writes that Tayyar "came again as governor of Sivas while Governor of Damascus." In the entry on Tayyar Mehmed Pasha, however, a return from Damascus to Sivas does not appear; the Erzurum post is mentioned instead. No other source was found to explain this difference. No information was found in another source on Halil Ağa of Bolu ("Demir Kazık") either.
Mağra and Hüftâdî Ahmed Bey
The identity of the person from among the beys of Georgia mentioned as "Mağra" is uncertain. The entry on Hâfız Ahmed Pasha speaks of the Georgian ruler "Magrav" in 1625; whether the two names belong to the same person could not be verified. No information was found in other sources on Hüftâdî Ahmed Bey.
