In Modern English
He was from Köprü. He was a son of Köprülü Yusuf Pasha, one of the beylerbeyis. On the eleventh day of Şaban 1035 [1625–26] he became sanjak bey of Amasya. In his own name he appointed el-Hâc Abdünnebi Ağa, son of Yeniçeri, as mütesellim (the sanjak bey's deputy) of Amasya, and Hasan Bey of Mahmud Pasha, one of the zeamet-holding sipahis, as alaybeyi of Amasya.
On the twenty-eighth of Şaban Köprülü Yusuf Ağa became mütevelli of the sultanic waqfs for the second time, but two days later, that is on the first day of Ramazan, the order came from Istanbul that Ali Ağa of Dimetoka be left in office.
In Şevval the Mütesellim Hacı Abdünnebi Ağa was charged with dispatching provisions and soldiers and went toward Iraq. The sipahi kethüda Şaban Ağa again became mütesellim kaymakamı. In Istanbul Hasan Efendi son of Bayram Efendi, a native of Amasya, became kazasker (chief military judge) of Anatolia.
At this time, since it was proved in court that Süleyman Ağa, ağa of the Beyler Sarayı, had had the lead on the dome of the Kemal Pasha Tomb in front of Aşağı Pirler removed by the bostancıs and sold, he was dismissed at once; he was sentenced to pay the damage and to prison. In his place Hüseyin Ağa became saray ağası.
This year in Muharrem, Mustafa Efendi son of Kadı, preacher of the Sultan Bayezid Mosque, died, and in his place his nephew Hâfız Abdurrahman Efendi became preacher. Muhyiddîn Efendi, muezzin of the Yörgüç Pasha Mosque and one of the pious scholars, also died. Aydın Ağa of Amasya became beylerbeyi of Abyssinia this year with the help of Vizier Bayram Pasha, Governor of Egypt.
In Muharrem 1036 [1626–27], the mütesellim and kethüdâyeri of Amasya was Şaban Ağa, the kadı Seyyid Mehmed Efendi, the mufti Ferrûh Efendi, the nakîb Seyyid Şeyh Ahmed Efendi of Lâdik, the alaybeyi Hasan Bey, the janissary serdar Üçüncü Hüseyin Ağa, the city kethüda Ali Bâlî Çelebi, and the dizdar of the Upper Fortress (Kal'a-i Bâlâ) Doğan Bey.
At the beginning of the month of Safer, since the kadı's term had ended, el-Hâc Mehmed Efendi son of Çavuş again became kadı of Amasya; in his name el-Hâc Süleyman Efendi son of Himmet became naib (deputy judge) of Amasya. At the beginning of Şaban the Alaybeyi Hasan Bey became mirliva (sanjak bey); in his place Doğan Bey, dizdar of the Upper Fortress, became alaybeyi of Amasya and Ömer Bey became dizdar of the fortress.
At the beginning of Zilkade, Mehmed Pasha son of the dizdar, a native of Amasya and former beylerbeyi of Damascus, came to Amasya as mütevelli of the Sultan Bayezid waqfs. In the middle of Zilkade, Mufti Ferrûh Efendi of Amasya was also dismissed; el-Hâc Hızır Efendi son of Bayram Efendi of Alevî Village, müderris (madrasa professor) of the Halfet, became mufti of Amasya and müderris of the Sultâniyye.
In Zilhicce Tayyar Mehmed Pasha, Governor of Sivas, was transferred to the Province of Damascus, and Küçük Ahmed Pasha, Beylerbeyi of Damascus, came as governor of Sivas. This year Seyyid Celâleddîn Mehmed Efendi son of Havza, one of the famous sheikhs, died. He was called "Büyük Celal Efendi" (Great Celal Efendi). His son Seyyid Yusuf Çelebi succeeded him.
In Muharrem 1037 [1627–28] the Mütesellim of Amasya was Şaban Ağa, the sipahi kethüda Köprülü Mehmed Ağa, and the city kethüda el-Hâc Osman Ağa. But since the mirliva İskender Bey's duty on the Iraq Campaign had been prolonged, he was replaced and the sanjak of Amasya was given to Osman Pasha, who was army defterdar and nişancı (chancellor).

The Rapid Turnover of Sanjak Beys
On the same pages four sanjak beys appear in succession: Ahmed Pasha, Mehmed Bey, İskender Bey and Osman Pasha. This rapid turnover shows the administrative problem of the period. As far as can be understood from the text, the sanjak beys were away from the city on campaign business and the sanjak was administered by mütesellims. Hüsameddin gives a roster of the city at the beginning of 1036: mütesellim, kadı, mufti, nakîb, alaybeyi, janissary serdar, city kethüda and fortress dizdar. Within the same year the kadı, mufti and alaybeyi among them changed.
İskender Bey and Köprülü Yusuf Pasha
The text shows the beylerbeyi Köprülü Yusuf Pasha as İskender Bey's father. No information was found in other sources on these two names. Hüsameddin writes that in 1037 İskender Bey was replaced because his service in the Iraq Campaign was prolonged. By this time the siege of Baghdad had been lifted on 3 July 1626, Hâfız Ahmed Pasha had been removed from the grand vizierate on 1 December 1626, and in his place Kayserili Halil Pasha had become grand vizier for the second time. Halil Pasha marched on Erzurum to punish Abaza; because of the inadequacy of siege guns and the severe winter, he was forced to turn back.
The Kemal Pasha Tomb
The fact that Süleyman Ağa, ağa of the Beyler Sarayı, had lead removed from the dome of the "Kemal Pasha Tomb in front of Aşağı Pirler" and sold it is an incident showing how waqf buildings could be harmed by officials. Pîrler is the quarter in Amasya where the Yakub Pasha Tekke also stands. No information was found in other sources on the present condition or name of this tomb.
Büyük Celal Efendi
From Hüsameddin one learns that Seyyid Celâleddîn Mehmed Efendi son of Havza was called "Büyük Celal Efendi" and that his son Yusuf Çelebi succeeded him. No information was found on this sheikh in other sources.
Tayyar Mehmed Pasha's Damascus Post
Hüsameddin places Tayyar Mehmed Pasha's transfer from Sivas to Damascus in Zilhicce 1036. According to Abdülkadir Özcan's biography, Tayyar Mehmed Pasha was appointed to the beylerbeyilik of Damascus in Safer 1037 (October 1627). There is a difference of about a month or two between the two dates; the day the appointment was decided and the day he actually took up the post may have been counted separately.
