Esbak Amasya emîri Hacı Kutlu Şâhzâde Süleyman Şâh'ın mahdûmu ve sâbık Sivas beylerbeyi Kutlu Paşa'nın birâderidir. Amasya [163] vilâyeti Osmanlı idâresine geçdiği yıldan beri Osmanlı sarâyına alınmış, Osmanlı terbiyesi görmüş bir Amasyalı'dır. 805 senesi muharreminde Amasya emîr-i kebîri olmuşdur.
Fakat Aksak Timur Hân, bütün Osmanlı ilini eski beylerine ve kendi ordusuna iltihâk eden derebeylere i'âde ve taksîm eylediği esnâda Amasya emâretini Kara Devletşâh'a bahş etmişdi.
Şehzâde Süleyman Bey'in Edirne'ye firârından sonra boş, vîrân kalan Sivas vilâyetini Kürtoğulları'ndan meşhûr Mezîd Bey bin Yûsuf Bey işgâl ederek kaçan Sivaslılar'ı topluyor, vîrân olan şehri i'mâra çalışıyordu.
Mezîd Bey, Türkiye Târîhi'nde yazıldığı gibi ne harâmî ne de Kürd değildi. Sivas'ı Dulkadir ve Kutluoğulları'ndan kurtaran bir zât idi. Hacı Kutlu Şâh'ın birâderi evlâdından Yûsuf Bey bin Mehmed Bey'in oğlu idi.
In Modern English
He is the son of Hacı Kutlu Şâhzâde Süleyman Şâh, former emir of Amasya, and the brother of Kutlu Pasha, former beylerbeyi of Sivas. He is an Amasyan who, since the year the province of Amasya passed to Ottoman administration, had been taken into the Ottoman palace and had received an Ottoman upbringing. In the month of Muharram 805 he became grand emir of Amasya.
But when Aksak Timur Han returned and distributed the whole Ottoman province to the old beys and to the local lords who had joined his army, he had granted the emirate of Amasya to Kara Devletşâh.
After Prince Süleyman Bey fled to Edirne, the famous Mezîd Bey bin Yûsuf Bey of the Kürtoğulları occupied the province of Sivas, which had been left empty and ruined, gathering the Sivasans who had fled and trying to repair the ruined city.
Mezîd Bey was neither a bandit nor a Kurd, as is written in Türkiye Târîhi. He was a person who delivered Sivas from the Dulkadir and the Kutluoğulları. He was the son of Yûsuf Bey bin Mehmed Bey, of the line of the brother of Hacı Kutlu Şâh.

Yâkût Pasha and the Emirate of Amasya
Yâkût Pasha's name had also appeared in the previous entry as one of Çelebi Mehmed's lalas. In present-day sources it is written that in 1402 Yakut Pasha was emir of Amasya, that Timur appointed Kara Devletşah as emir, but that the people and notables did not recognize his rule and did not let him into the city. This information coincides with the events Hüsameddin narrates in detail in the next entry. The same sources present Yakut Pasha as the son of Hacı Kutlu Şehzade Süleyman Şah and as an Ottoman emir known by the name Sinaneddin; in 1413 he had an imaret built in the quarter bearing his name.
On Mezîd Bey
In the last paragraph Hüsameddin rejects what is written in "Türkiye Târîhi" on the origin of Mezîd Bey, who held Sivas. In a present-day encyclopedia entry Mezid Bey is counted, together with Kara Devletşah and the Taşan family, among the local dynasties that accepted Timur's sovereignty after the Battle of Ankara. No source was found that confirms or refutes the information Hüsameddin gives on Mezîd Bey's lineage.
