The unprinted volumes of this great work remained with the heirs of the deceased. Abdîzâde Hüseyin Hüsameddîn, in a letter that he sent to Amasya in his lifetime and that was published in the Emel Gazetesi, stated that he feared that after his death this work would go into the grave with him, and called on the people of Amasya to take up the work. But after his death in 1939, for a long time no initiative was taken for the printing of the work. That the work he wrote by spending his life did not receive the expected interest grieved the author, and after his death his friends; persons such as Muammer Ülker, chairman of the Türk Kültür Derneği, Halit Öcalan and Haşim Nezihi Çuhacıoğlu (Okay) expressed this situation in various ways. Ziyaettin Türem, who was mayor in 1946-1947 and deputy mayor in the 1960-1962 period of military rule, is also among those who grieved that Amasya Tarihi could not be printed. Ziyaettin Türem, a friend of Abdîzâde Hüseyin Hüsameddîn, subscribed to Amasya Tarihi, kept this work for years in his library as a bedside book, and made sure that his children, like himself, benefited from the work. His son Gündüz Türem, who was mayor between 1977 and 1980, stated that his father told them of his admiration for Abdîzâde Hüseyin Hüsameddîn and his thoughts on the printing of the work. The first steps taken on the basis of these thoughts began to bear fruit under the chairmanship of Gündüz Türem.
Gündüz Türem related the following in an interview with Hüseyin Menç:
My father Ziyaettin Türem was a friend of Abdîzâde Hüseyin Hüsameddîn Efendi. Hüsameddîn Efendi had applied in the 1924 parliamentary elections to be nominated as a candidate from Amasya, but because this wish of his was not taken into consideration he had fallen into a heartbreak, a resentment toward Amasya. My father used to say that he was very saddened by this. After 27 May 1960, when during the military administration my father, being a former mayor, served as deputy mayor in the government building in the governor's name, in February 1961 he had a commemoration day for Hüseyin Hüsameddîn Efendi held. The aim was both to console the family and to obtain an environment that would make possible the printing of the unprinted volumes of Amasya Tarihi that were in the family's hands. A commemoration day was held for our late author, but no significant step could be taken toward bringing the family and the books to Amasya. This initiative remained in me as a debt.
Gündüz Türem, who was elected mayor in 1978, also shared his thoughts about bringing the unprinted volumes of Amasya Tarihi to Amasya with some family friends and colleagues. Haşim Nezih Okay, who was raised in Istanbul under the protection of Hüseyin Hüsameddîn Efendi and had retired from teaching literature, hearing this through Süreyya Hanım, one of the family friends, wrote him a letter. This letter greatly affected Gündüz Türem and awakened in him the thought that he must act at once. In the letter dated 18 July 1978, which Hüseyin Menç relayed with its original typewritten copy, Haşim Nezihi Okay writes as follows:
"...Sir, the story is this: The late author completed the work in forty years; we may say he dug a well with a needle. Of the Amasya Tarihi in twelve volumes, this book that astonishes minds, four volumes were printed in the Constitutional years by Şeyhülislam Hayrullah (Ürgüplü) Efendi; the remaining eight volumes are now in the hands of his son, retired colonel Kemal Yaşar. The colonel is a bachelor. If he closes his eyes, these volumes will fall to the grocer. This was all my worry. Thank God, you have opened a door of hope. Truly it would have been most fitting for this immense work to be printed by Amasya. You have thought very well, my son."
Gündüz Türem, without losing time, visited Haşim Nezihi Okay at his house in Istanbul; Okay acted as expert in meeting the Yasar family and in the purchase of the manuscript copies. An agreement was reached at 500,000 TL; on returning to Amasya the situation was assessed with the municipal council members, and a council decision was issued toward acquiring all the copyrights for the Municipality of Amasya. Through a contract made with the heirs of Hüseyin Hüsameddîn Efendi, the manuscripts were brought to Amasya.
The Municipality of Amasya acted in 1980 for the printing of this great work; for the purchase of the copyrights and the printing of the work, the mayor of the time Gündüz Türem asked the municipal council on 8 April 1980 to form a commission. On 5 May 1980 the municipality decided to begin talks with the heirs; as a result of the talks and the publication contract made on 8 May 1980 with Kemalettin Yasar, who took part by proxy and in his own right on behalf of Hüseyin Hüsameddîn Efendi's heirs Cemal Yasar, Serpil Yasar, Doğan Gücer and Altan Gücer, all the rights to the work were purchased by the Municipality of Amasya for 500,000 TL in cash. The printed and manuscript copies were handed over to Muammer Ülker, then Director of the Süleymaniye Library in Istanbul, for their protection.
The work begun for the reprinting of Amasya Tarihi unfortunately was left unfinished in the process of the military coup of 12 September 1980. Mustafa Hatipoğlu, elected mayor in 1984, brought the subject onto the agenda again; the printing of the first volume, simplified by Dr. Ali Yılmaz and Dr. Mehmet Akkuş, was carried out in 1986 in 7000 copies. The printing of the other volumes could not be completed because local elections intervened. Ten years after the printing of the first volume, in 1997, the mayor Ahmet Çekin made an initiative once more; Dr. Mesut Aydın was given the task of transcribing into today's alphabet all the other printed and manuscript parts and preparing them for publication, and at the end of five years of work the transcription was made and delivered to the municipality. Hüseyin Baş, who took over the mayoralty in April 1999, continued his interest in Amasya Tarihi and in 2000 asked for the first four volumes to be reprinted, but could not succeed in this. İsmet Özarslan, elected mayor in 2004, carried out a series of works for Amasya Tarihi; the printing of the first five of the 12 volumes (1-4 and the remainder of the 4th volume), prepared for publication by Prof. Dr. Mesut Aydın and Güler Aydın, was done in 2007. However, because of the errors in the printed volumes and the increase in criticisms on this subject, the printing of the remaining volumes was postponed by the municipality.
In 2015 the mayor of the time Cafer Özdemir, for the purpose of correcting the errors in the printed volumes and retranslating the work, formed a commission under the chairmanship of the late Prof. Dr. Mehmet Arslan and began a project for the printing of all the volumes. But this work was left unfinished upon the change of the mayor and the death of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Arslan at that time. In 2018 the Mayor of Amasya Mehmet Sarı made an initiative to complete this unfinished work; with the support of Amasya University, in 2020 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Songül Keçeci Kurt, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Recep Orhan Özel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Hakverdioğlu, faculty members of Amasya University, were assigned as the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board began work to receive and re-review the volumes distributed among faculty members in line with the work begun in 2015. The work of the late Prof. Dr. Mehmet Arslan was taken from his heirs and began to be reviewed; after the other volumes were also delivered, the editorial work lasted about a year, and the 12-volume Amasya Tarihi was made ready for publication. The division of tasks in the preparation of the volumes is as follows:

The Printing History of the Work
According to the encyclopedia records, Amasya Tarihi is in fact a work in twelve volumes; only four volumes could be printed in Istanbul between 1912 and 1928. The year of the municipality's purchase of the work is given in the encyclopedia as 1979; the editor who wrote the introductory section of the book, however, ties the contract to the meeting dated 8 May 1980. The difference between the two dates may arise from the talks having begun earlier, but this could not be made certain from the sources at hand.
According to the same encyclopedia record the fifth volume of the work is lost; the sixth to twelfth volumes, in manuscript, are deposited in the Süleymaniye Library. This seems consistent with the fate of the manuscripts said in the text to have been handed over to Muammer Ülker. It is also noteworthy that the text counts the remainder of the 4th volume as printed. When the printing dates are lined up, it is seen that the work, over the hundred and ten years from 1912 to 2022, passing from hand to hand among mayors and academics, reached the reader as a whole only now.
The 2022 Edition
The twelve-volume work came out among the Amasya Municipality Cultural Publications. The launch of the book was held on Saturday 29 October 2022 in the Şehzade Hall of the Amasya Municipality Service Building, and the editors Metin Hakverdioğlu, Recep Orhan Özel and Songül Keçeci Kurt spoke at the launch panel. Amasya University's news item emphasizes that the work met its reader 83 years after its author.
