Hacı Şadgeldi and His Era
The emir of Amasya in the text, Hacı Şadgeldi, is the second elder son of Hacı Kutlu Şah. He was appointed to the emirate of Amasya in 1359 and remained in this post until his death in 1381. After the Kaynar affair of 1362 he came onto the stage a second time as emir of Amasya, and in these years he began to act independently. In the sources this emirate appears as the "Kürdoğlu Emirate", "Kutluşah Emirate" or "Şadgeldi Emirate". It is stated that Kadı Burhâneddin defeated and killed him in the autumn of 1381.
That Âbak Bey died close to the last years of this emirate is consistent with Hüsameddin's phrase "evâhir-i ahd". For this reason it may be thought that he died in the late 1370s or around 1380; this is an inference, since the text gives no date.
Geldiklân and the Family Branch
The present-day location of the district of Geldiklân that the bey governed could not be verified in other sources. For the Kayabaşı quarter too no separate record was found. That his sons Ahmed and Süleyman Beys and his grandson Dâvud Şah Bey are counted among the emirs in Ottoman service could not be confirmed by a source other than Hüsameddin.
For the meaning of the name Âbak, Hüsameddin cites et-Tuhfetü'z-Zekiyye. It was not possible to compare this explanation with another source.
