Notes on the Entry
The entry is part of the section in which Hüsameddin lists the notables of Amasya in the mid-eighteenth century, and consists of a short record of service. This line, running from janissary service to serdarship and from war duty to council membership, shows how in that period families of military origin came to have a say in local government in Amasya. It is likely that the wars appearing in the text as "İran muhârebâtı" are the Nadir Shah campaigns mentioned in Hüsameddin's neighboring entries; but this entry does not say so outright.
The entry's last sentence belongs to another person, Ahmed Ağa, serdar of Köprü, and is added without a separate introduction. Which settlement is meant by the name Köprü is not explained in the book. No information on the waqf of the Hacı Hamza Bey Masjid or on the persons named was found in the sources that could be reached.
