Merzifonludur. Tahsîl-i ulûm ederek orada ders-i âm ve 1153’de Alaca Minare Câmii şerîfine imâm ve kürsî şeyhi oldu. Va’azında Merzifon voyvodasının ve eşrâfının ef’âl ve harekâtına itirâz eylediğinden mükerreren azl ve nasb edilerek vâ’iz ve imâm olduğu halde 1171’de vefât etdi. Ulemâdan sâlih, kavvâl bi’l-hakk bir vâ’izdi. Mahdûmu Hâfız İbrâhim Efendi imâm olup 1201’de vefât etdi.

He was from Merzifon. After acquiring learning he gave public lectures there, and in 1153 [1740-41] became imam and pulpit sheikh of the Alaca Minare Mosque. Because in his sermons he opposed the conduct of the voivode of Merzifon and of the notables, he was dismissed and reappointed many times. He died in 1171 [1757-58] while serving as preacher and imam. Among the scholars he was a pious preacher who spoke the truth. His son, Hâfız İbrahim Efendi, became an imam and died in 1201 [1786-87].
