In Modern English

He was a native of Amasya, the son of the emir Sunkuroğlu İsa Bey and brother of Yahşi Bey. He was one of the emirs in the time of Hacı Şadgeldi Pasha, and in 783 [1381], while fighting bravely in the war against Kadı Burhaneddin, he was taken prisoner together with Hacı Şadgeldi Pasha. When Hacı Şadgeldi Pasha was killed, he paid a ransom and was freed.

Later he was one of the emirs of Fahreddin Ahmed Pasha, Emir of Amasya, and when the principality of Amasya was attached to Sultan Murad Han I in 788 [1386], he came to the fore through his service, and around 798 [1395-96] he died a martyr in the Rumelian wars. His sons were Yusuf and Hamza Bey. Hamza Bey was son-in-law to his paternal uncle Yahşi Bey and died in 804 [1402] in the war with Timur. His sons were Sinaneddin Yusuf and Bedreddin Davud Pashas. From Principality to Ottoman Rule in Amasya

The events in the entry concern the changes of hands that Amasya went through at the end of the fourteenth century. Hacı Şadgeldi had taken Amasya from Ali Bey, head of the Eretna Principality. Kadı Burhaneddin defeated and killed Şadgeldi in the autumn of 1381; in the fighting some emirs died and some were taken prisoner. Hüsameddin's date 783 agrees with this event. Kadı Burhaneddin could not take Amasya; the notables of the city chose Şadgeldi's son Fahreddin Ahmed as their ruler. Fahreddin Ahmed later declared his allegiance to Murad I. The sources report that Prince Bayezid was appointed sanjak governor of Amasya in 1386; Hüsameddin's date 788 corresponds to this year. The same sources also write that when Yıldırım Bayezid left for the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, he again left Amasya to Fahreddin Ahmed.

Family Ties

Yahşi Bey is the father of Bayezid Pasha, who was later grand vizier from 1413 to 1421. He is the one whom Hüsameddin mentions in this entry as the brother of Âsâyiş Bey. The record that Bayezid Pasha's nephews Sinaneddin Yusuf and Bedreddin Davud reached the vizierate could not be verified in another source. No information was found about Âsâyiş Bey himself other than Hüsameddin. The war of 804 [1402], named as the place where Hamza Bey died, is the year of the Battle of Ankara.
