Prince Ahmed and His Family

Prince Ahmed was born in Amasya around 1466 and served in the sanjak of Amasya for years. In the struggle for the throne that he entered with his brother Selim during the lifetime of their father II. Bayezid, he was defeated at Yenişehir in 1513 and put to death; his grave is at the Muradiye in Bursa. This event, which Hüsameddin calls "strangling" (ihnâk), is generally described in the sources as an execution. The date 918 in the entry corresponds to this event.

In some sources Sittişah Hatun is mentioned as Prince Ahmed's wife, and Prince Murad is counted among their sons. Whether the "Sultan Hatun" whom Hüsameddin names as Murad's mother is the same person could not be verified in other sources. No information was found separately on her school and waqfs in Bursa either. Bülbül Hatun, the mother of Prince Ahmed, is known to have had waqfs in Amasya and Ladik; the hatun in the entry is a different person from her.
