Namesakes and Descent

The title of this entry is the same as that of "Emîn Mehmed Efendi, Fazlızâde es-Seyyid el-Hâc" in entry 363, but the men are different: the father in 363 is Seyyid Hâfız Mehmed Efendi, in this entry Seyyid Hacı Ahmed Efendi, and the man of 363 died in 1240 as secretary of the governor of Sivas and ayân of Amasya, while the man of this entry died in 1257 in the Istanbul finance bureaucracy. The appearance of the name Fazlızâde in both may point to the same family, but the text draws no such link; this is an inference. The words "es-Seyyid" and "el-Hâc" in the title mean that among the notables of Amasya he was of sayyid descent and had made the pilgrimage.
