The Gümüşlü Mosque
According to the culture and tourism records, the Gümüşlü Mosque in Amasya is a building with a wooden roof first built in 1326 by Taceddin Mahmud Çelebi. It collapsed in the earthquake of 1419, and Defterdar Mahmut Bey had it rebuilt in 1491. After the fire of 1612 Şemseddin Pasha had it repaired, and the mosque came to be known by the name of Gümüşlüzâde İbrahim Bey, who commissioned the repair of 1688. After the fire of 1721 the waqf administrator Mustafa Ağa had one more repair made. A portico was added to the square-planned building of cut stone in 1903.
Hüsameddin also calls the mosque "Tâciye Câmii" and writes that the eastern half of the Bâğ Helkis land was endowed in 805 [1402-03] by Gümüşlüzâde Şemseddîn Ahmed Çelebi, son of Bedreddîn Mahmûd Çelebi, and that this land is among the waqfs of the Gümüşlüzâde Mosque. This passage gives no date of construction for the mosque, so no direct contradiction can be drawn between the date 1326 in the tourism record and the book.
Imamate Passing from Father to Son
Musâzâde's own entry is short, but the entries Hüsameddin devotes to other imams of the same mosque show that this post often stayed within families. Hatîbzâde Ebûbekir Efendi became imam of the Gümüşlüzâde Mosque in 1188 [1774-75], taught at the mosque, and died in 1224 [1809]. İmâmzâde Hâfız Ahmed Efendi became imam when his father, el-Hâc Hasan Efendi, who was both imam and a scholar of recitation, died; he served as professor at the Fâtıma Hâtun Madrasa next to the mosque and died in 1223 [1808]. İmâmzâde Emîn Mehmed Efendi also became imam in 1216 [1801-02], then became sheikh of the lodge of Şeyh Ya'kub Efendi, and died around 1247 [1831-32]. Musâzâde's succession to his father as imam is one example of this arrangement.
The mosque also had the post of kürsü şeyhi (preacher at the lectern). Hüsameddin gives an example from the seventeenth century: Zileli Muharrem Efendizâde Abdurrauf Efendi held this post, and when he died his son Ahmed Efendi became kürsü şeyhi and professor of the Fâtımiyye Madrasa. There is no record whether Musâzâde took this post.
No information was found in other sources about Mûsâ Efendi and his son.
