The Sultan Bâyezîd Madrasa and the Amasya Muftiship
The Sultan Bâyezîd Madrasa, where İsmâil Efendi became müderris in 1070, is part of the complex Bayezid II had built in Amasya (completed, according to its inscription, in Receb 891, July 1486). Its lecture hall-mosque is domed, its courtyard arcaded and it has eighteen cells; the building survives and was long used as the provincial public library. According to information based on Hüsameddin, the müderris post of this madrasa was assigned to the muftis of Amasya; its first teacher was the famous Şeyhülislam Zenbilli Ali Efendi. This agrees with the order in the text: İsmâil Efendi became müderris here in 1070 and a year later, in 1071, was made mufti.
The Yörgüç Pasha Madrasa
The Yörgüç Pasha Madrasa, where he was müderris in 1067, is among the buildings that Yörgüç Pasha (d. April-May 1442), tutor of Prince Murad, had built in Amasya: a mosque, a madrasa, an imaret and two baths. Besides Amasya the Pasha also had many works built in Tokat, Gümüş, Köprü, Havza and İskilip. The mosques have survived.
