In Modern English
A devshirme recruit raised in the palace, he rose from the post of chief of the gardeners (bostancıbaşı) to become beylerbeyi of Silistra. In the month of Ramadan of the year 966 [1559] he was appointed mutasarrıf (governor) of the sanjak of Amasya and arrived in Amasya in Shawwal. Mehmed Ağa, one of the palace couriers (çavuş) charged with seizing all the prince's belongings and baggage, also came, in Dhu al-Qada.
Many of Prince Bayezid's men had gone to Iran with him. Sinan Pasha sent Halil Hâce and the chief physician, who had remained in Amasya, to Istanbul. The prince's son-in-law and the guardian of Amasya, Muzaffer Pasha, remained under arrest in the dungeon of Amasya Castle, and Sinan Ağa became castle warden (dizdar).
At the beginning of Dhu al-Qada 966, Muhyiddin Mehmed Efendi became judge of Amasya and supervisor of state properties. The prince's steward of the gatekeepers, Mahmud Ağa, was seized and imprisoned. But Mahmud Bey, who was the emir of the council, rose in revolt around Çorum and Niksar with the soldiers of the prince's army that he had gathered about him, and attempted highway robbery.
At the beginning of Muharram 967 [1559–60], the office of mufti of Amasya and the professorship of the Sultâniyye Madrasa were given, at a daily stipend of eighty akçe, to Hamîdli Küçük Tâceddin Efendi, who was a professor of Sultan Selim, and the previous holder was sent away. In the middle of Muharram, the former mufti of Amasya, Molla Cürcân Muhyiddin, and Sheikh Hayreddin Îcâdî Efendi, who had been held prisoner in Yedikule, were pardoned and released.
Likewise, at the beginning of Muharram, Mehmed Çelebi, treasurer of Diyarbekir, was appointed and came to the stewardship of the crown revenues (hâslar emâneti) of Amasya, left vacant by Dursun Bey's departure. Abdî Çelebi, one of the poets and the former secretary, kept his post. Later Sinan Pasha left and Ahmed Bey came in his place.

Identity of Sinan Pasha
In the previous entry Hüsameddin mentions this Sinan Pasha as "Arnavut Sinan Pasha, beylerbeyi of Silistra"; here he introduces him as a devshirme recruit who rose from the bostancıbaşı post to the beylerbeyilik of Silistra. These two pieces of information appear to belong to the same person. No biography of this Sinan Pasha was found in other sources. One source writes that a person named Sinan Pasha was also in the last Ottoman embassy sent to take Prince Bayezid into custody at Qazvin; whether this person is the same as the Sinan Pasha who came to Amasya could not be determined.
After Prince Bayezid
The entry describes the settling of accounts in the city after Bayezid left Amasya. According to the encyclopedia entry, Bayezid left Amasya on 7 July 1559, taking his four sons; Hüsameddin's records also agree with this departure. Some of Bayezid's men went with him, some of those left behind were exiled to Istanbul, Muzaffer Pasha, mentioned as his son-in-law, was put in the castle dungeon, and another bey rose in revolt with his own army in the Çorum and Niksar region. That this Mahmud Bey had earlier been kapıcıbaşı (head of palace gatekeepers) of Süleyman Pasha is learned from Hüsameddin's footnote; no detail was found in another source.
The Mufti's Return
Muhyiddin Mehmed Efendi, known by the epithet Molla Cürcân, had been appointed mufti in 955 in an earlier entry, in the Amasya of Prince Mustafa. Here it is written that the mufti, held prisoner in Yedikule as Bayezid's envoy, was released in the middle of Muharram 967. The encyclopedia entry says that after the defeat at Konya Bayezid sent the mufti Muhyiddin Cürcânî to his father; that is, the same person appears in both sources, but the time of the mission is given differently.
The End of the Princely Sanjak
Amasya was removed from being a princely sanjak after this flight in 1559, and no prince held office in the city afterward. According to the encyclopedia entry, Amasya was thereafter governed by sanjak beys appointed from the center; the changes of office listed in the entry can be read as the first records of this new period. No information was found in other sources about Mehmed Çelebi, mentioned as steward of the crown estates, the professor Hamîdli Küçük Tâceddin Efendi, Halil Hâce and Abdî Çelebi.
