Kezâlik bu sene Kaya Bey Amasya'da Temennâ Mahallesi'nde binâ eylediği mescid-i şerîf ve mu'allim-hânesini ikmâl eylediğinden iki yüz otuz altın nukûduyla emlâkini vakf edib Hasan Kale dizdârı olan mahdûmu Mehmed Bey'i mütevellî nasb etdi.

In Modern English
He was the son of Kaya Çelebi, son of Kaya Pasha, of Amasya. While bey of the sanjak of İçil, he came to the beylik of Amasya in 971 [1563–64] through a change of post. In his time the mütesellim (deputy governor) of Amasya was Ali Ağa, one of the sipahi çavuşes.
In Muharram of 972 [1564–65], the judge of Amasya, the poet Lâlî Ahmed Efendi, died. In his place Muzaffer Efendi came as judge for the second time. Also in the middle of Muharram, Küçük Tâceddîn Efendi resigned from the office of fatwa and Mahmûd Pasha İmâmızâde Mehmed Efendi was appointed in his place. But because he did not come, in Dhu al-Hijja Bağdâdîzâde Seyyid Şemseddîn Ahmed Efendi became mufti of Amasya and professor of the Sultâniyye.
Also in this year, the mütesellim of Amasya, Alî Ağa, was given an increase of one thousand five hundred akçe on his zeamet of four thousand two hundred akçe, because he had shown merit in suppressing and clearing out the bandits who had appeared around Amasya.
Likewise in this year, when Kaya Bey completed the mosque and the children's school (mu'allim-hâne) that he had built in the Temennâ quarter of Amasya, he endowed them as a waqf with two hundred and thirty gold coins in cash together with his properties, and appointed his son Mehmed Bey, who was warden of Hasan Castle, as trustee (mütevelli).
In Dhu al-Hijja 972, the professor of the Yörgüç Pasha Madrasa, the famous scholar Cum'a Efendi, died. At the beginning of 973 [1565–66], since Kaya, sanjak bey of Amasya, was appointed to the sanjak of Kilis, Mehmed Bey was brought to the beylik of Amasya in his place.

Kaya Bey's Mosque
Hüsameddin reports that in 972 Kaya Bey had a mosque and a children's school built in the Temennâ quarter and established a waqf for them with two hundred and thirty gold coins and his properties. In Amasya's present cultural inventory, the Temenna Mosque in the Fethiye quarter is recorded as one of the early-period mosques with a square plan. The building is under monumental protection and is the responsibility of the General Directorate of Foundations, and the record gives its date of construction as the fifteenth century. Its founder is unknown; it has no inscription and no waqf deed. This record is not compatible with the date Hüsameddin gives (the mid-sixteenth century). It could therefore not be verified whether Kaya Bey's mosque is the present Temenna Mosque; the mosque could be the repair of an older building or a different building.
Kaya Bey, Kaya Pasha and the Family
The text says Kaya Bey was the son of "Kaya Çelebi, son of Kaya Pasha." An entry of the same volume for the year 984 also speaks of "Kaya Pashazâde of Amasya," a beylerbeyi who likewise had a mosque and school built. The text does not state whether the two persons are the same. Since no reliable additional source was found, nothing definite can be said on this.
It is also notable that mufti and judge appointments are mentioned so frequently: within the same year Küçük Tâceddîn Efendi's resignation, Mehmed Efendi who was appointed but did not come, and then Şemseddîn Ahmed Efendi are counted. No information was found in other sources about Cum'a Efendi, professor of the Yörgüç Pasha, or the mütesellim Ali Ağa.
