The War with Timur
The "Timurlenk war" of the entry is the battle fought on the Çubuk plain near Ankara between Timur and Bayezid Yıldırım. The battle is usually dated 28 July 1402, though some sources give 20 July 1402; Timur won the battle and Bayezid was taken prisoner. The Hijri year 804 runs from August 1401 to August 1402, so the date of the entry agrees with the battle. That the battle was the Battle of Ankara is a conclusion drawn from the year "804" in the entry; the text names no place. Umur Pasha's role in the battle and the place where he died are not written.
The Emirate of Amasya and Devâtdâr Ahmed Pasha
The emirate of Amasya began with Kutlu Şah in 747 [1346], passed after Şadgeldi's death to his second son Ahmed Pasha, and came to an end in 805 [1403] when the emirate of Şadgeldi's grandson ended. Whether the "Beylerbeyi of Amasya Devâtdâr Ahmed Pasha" named in the entry as Umur Pasha's brother-in-law is this Ahmed Pasha is not stated; the similarity of the names, and the fact that Umur Pasha is counted as an emir of Bayezid Yıldırım, suggest that he may be the same person or another Amasya governor of the same period, but this could not be verified. No information was found in other sources on the names Bâbûkşâh, Esen Bey and Alî Pasha.
