The Grandsons of Yörgüç Pasha

The entry describes a native of Amasya descended from Yörgüç Pasha; unlike the earlier ones, the chain begins not with Hızır but with Abdî Bey. Among the sons of Yörgüç Pasha the sources count Hızır, Yûnus, Mustafa and Molla Îsâ; the names Abdî and Yusuf were not found. For this reason it could not be verified whether Abdî Bey was Yörgüç Pasha's own son. It is possible that Hüsameddin also used the heading "Yörgüç Paşazâde" for a more distant descent; this is an inference. No information on Üveys Bey, Abdî Bey or Yusuf Bey was found in other sources.

Üveys Bey's death date, 890 [1485], falls forty-three years after the death of Yörgüç Pasha (1442). The family was active in Amasya in this period: Hızır Pasha (d. 1466), the brother of Yörgüç Pasha, and his son Mehmed Pasha (d. 1494) governed the city in turn and had complexes built in Amasya made up of mosques, madrasas, soup kitchens and baths. According to the waqf documents, the family drew income from four caravanserais, a covered market, many shops, six mills and eleven baths in and around Amasya. Üveys Bey's connection with these buildings and waqfs is not stated in the text.
