Two Ahmed Ağas, One Family Tree
This entry in fact commemorates two men. The first is Pîrîzâde Hacı Ahmed Ağa: his father is Hacı Ali Efendi, his grandfather Pîrî Mehmed Efendi, and the Fâzıl Hüseyin Efendi whose nephew he is is most probably Hacı Hüseyin Efendi, the father of the Ahmed Efendi of the previous entry (623). This link is not written out; it is inferred from the matching of names. The second is Mumcuzâde Seyyid Ahmed Ağa; the Mumcuzâde Seyyid Ahmed Ağa of entry 628 is his cousin on the father's side (common ancestor: Seyyid Mehmed Ağa, son of Kınalı Osman). Both Mumcuzâde Ahmeds are recorded as "nephew of Seyyid Ahmed Pasha". This shows that the same name occurred in several people within one family, and that Hüsameddin lists father and grandfather names one after another to tell them apart.
The text does not make clear whether Seyyid Ahmed Pasha, beylerbeyi of Kastamonu, is the same person as the grand vizier nicknamed "Hubyarlı" in entry 622; both bear the name "Seyyid Ahmed Pasha", but no statement joining them was read in the source. No information on him or on the Mumcuzâde family was found in other sources.
