In Modern English
He was from Köprü. He is the son of Hüsameddin Efendizade Hacı Mehmed Efendi, one of the scholars of that place. He learned in Amasya, gave public lectures in Köprü, and became müderris with the revenue of the Kaplan mezra attached to him. He taught for years at the Orta Mosque and became known through making mülazemet by the tezkire method. At one point he became mufti of Köprü and gave fatwas for more than a year, and after being dismissed died on the tenth day of Şevval 1141 [May 1729] without a male child. He was among the famous scholars, a man of good character, devoted to religion. His daughter Saime Hatun became owner of the said mezra and, when she died in 1178 [1764-65], her sons Müftüzade Sheikh Seyyid Sadullah and Ali Efendis became owners of the mezra and müderrises. The brother of the person whose biography is written, Hasan Efendi, was also among the scholars.

Köprü and the Orta Mosque
Köprü is today's Vezirköprü. The Orta Mosque is still found in the Orta Cami neighborhood of Vezirköprü and is referred to as the Yörgüç Pasha mosque. In Yörgüç Pasha's waqf deed of 1431, revenues were set aside to meet the expenses of this mosque. Because the mosque collapsed in an earthquake, the present building is a mosque with a wooden roof and stone walls built in 1944. For this reason the building in which Ahmed Efendi taught for years is not the one standing today but the earlier mosque that was destroyed.
No information was found in other sources on the present-day equivalent of the Kaplan mezra or on the Hüsameddinzade family. The notable aspect of the text is the tying of the professorship to the revenue of a mezra: Ahmed Efendi's daughter claimed this mezra, and his grandsons too became müderrises with the same revenue. That is, for this family the teaching post remained tied to the income of a field.
