Amasyalıdır. Şâdgeldi Paşa ahfâdından Pîr Hüseyin Bey bin Derviş Mehmed Çelebi mahdûmu ve selefi Hüseyin Paşa’nın kayın pederidir. 1045 senesi [73] gurre-i muharreminde Amasya beyi olup Hoca Ahmed Paşa’nın ağalarından Bayburdlu Ahmed Ağa Amasya mütesellimi oldu.
Fakat Derviş Bey, Amasya beyi olduktan yirmi yedi gün sonra kazâen vefât eylediğinden Amasya sancağı, Revân’dan kaçıp Sultân Murâd’a dehâlet ve kabûl-i tabiiyet eden İran ümerâsından Elkâs Bey’e tevcîh ve ihsân edildi.
In Modern English
He was a native of Amasya. He was of the descendants of Şâdgeldi Pasha, a son of Pîr Hüseyin Bey son of Derviş Mehmed Çelebi, and the father-in-law of the Hüseyin Pasha who preceded him. At the beginning of Muharrem 1045 [1635] he became Bey of Amasya; Ahmed Ağa of Bayburt, one of Hoca Ahmed Pasha's ağas, became mütesellim (deputy) of Amasya.
But since Derviş Bey died as a result of an accident twenty-seven days after becoming Bey of Amasya, the sanjak of Amasya was given, and forgiven, to Elkâs Bey, one of the Persian emirs who had fled from Revan, taken refuge with Sultan Murad and accepted his allegiance.

Derviş Bey and the Brief Sanjak Governorship
Hüsameddin ties Derviş Bey to the line of Şâdgeldi Pasha. He does not explain the cause of death, contenting himself with saying that it was the result of an accident. The span of twenty-seven days agrees with the dates in the next entry: Elkâs Bey's appointment falls on the twenty-eighth day of Muharrem. This date is a few days before 1 Safer 1045 (17 July 1635), when the army reached Kars. That is, the sanjak changed hands before the siege of Revan.
The person called "his predecessor Hüseyin Pasha" in the text must be Hüseyin Bey, guardian of Erzurum Fortress, in the previous entry; for that entry reports that Hüseyin Bey left the sanjak as beylerbeyi of Kars and that Derviş Bey was brought in his place. This is an inference; the text does not say it explicitly.
Those from Revan
Elkâs Bey's fleeing from Revan and taking refuge with the Ottomans rests on a disagreement with the guardian of Revan; the name of this guardian is given in the next entry. At the head of Revan was Emîrgûneoğlu Tahmasb Kulı Khan, and the fortress surrendered on 8 August 1635. No information was found in other sources on Elkâs Bey. No information was found in other sources on Derviş Bey and Ahmed Ağa of Bayburt either.
