Yörgüç Pasha
The Yörgüç Pasha of the text is the statesman who was the tutor (lala) of Murad II and who headed the administration of the province of Rum for many years. According to the TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi, in 1414 Çelebi Sultan Mehmed sent his twelve-year-old son Prince Murad to Amasya as bey of the province of Rum and assigned Yörgüç Pasha to him as tutor. After Murad II came to the throne, Yörgüç Pasha was appointed beylerbeyi of Rum in 826 [1423] and kept order around Amasya, Tokat, Sivas, Çorum and Osmancık. He died in Zilhicce 845 [April-May 1442] and was buried in the tomb of the mosque he had built in Amasya. He had a mosque, a madrasa, an imaret and two baths built in Amasya; his mosque there still stands, and tourism and culture records state that it was built in 1428.
Since Emîr bin Yahya is said to have entered the judiciary on Yörgüç Pasha's recommendation, it can be supposed that this entry took place before the Pasha's death in 1442. This is an inference; the text does not give the year he began as kadı. Hüsameddin places his death around the year 864; the year is not certain.
The Torumtay Madrasa
According to another entry by Hüsameddin, Seyfeddîn Torumtay, governor of Amasya, completed in 665 [1266-67] the mosque, madrasa and tomb he had been building on the west side of Amasya and arranged its waqfs; Torumtay died in 679 [1280] and was buried in his tomb. Tourism and culture records state that the Gökmedrese, which consists of a mosque, a tomb and a madrasa, was built by Seyfeddin Torumtay in 1267. Read together, these two pieces of information indicate that the "Medrese-i Torumtay" and the Gökmedrese are the same building; this is an inference, since Hüsameddin does not make the identification explicitly. The building stands in Amasya today. The years in which Emîr bin Yahya taught at this madrasa are not known. Another person who served as müderris at the same madrasa was Necîbüddîn Mûsâ of the Hallâtî family, whom Hüsameddin mentions in another entry.
"Mevlânâ Umûr" in the Heading
The heading of the entry reads "Emîr Çelebi-Mevlânâ Umûr," but neither "Umûr" nor "Mevlânâ" appears in the text. The entry in the book describes a person named Emîr, who was the son of Yahya Çelebi. Where the name "Umûr" in the heading comes from is not explained.
Searches on Emîr bin Yahya's judgeships in Tokat and Sivas and his post as waqf inspector in Amasya found no information in any other source. Hüsameddin's text remains the only source for this person.
