In Modern English
He was the son of Şirvânî el-Hâc Mustafa Efendi, one of the learned men of Amasya. He was born in 1278 [1861-62] in the Gümüşlüzâde quarter. After studying the necessary sciences at the Rüşdiye School, he learned from his father, and in 1298 [1880-81], in place of his father who had died, he became third teacher at the Rüşdiye School.
For sixteen years he taught pupils at the Rüşdiye School as third teacher. In 1314 [1896-97], when the Rüşdiye School was raised to the rank of an idâdî (secondary school), he became teacher of Persian literature. It was heard that he died in 1338 [1919-20]. He was a scholar and a poet, with a great love of literature. I read Persian with this man.

The Şirvânî Family
In Amasya there is a well-known family called by the nisba Şirvânî. Şirvânîzâde Mehmed Rüşdü Pasha (1828-1874), who rose to the grand vizierate, was born in Amasya; his father was İsmâil Sirâceddin Şirvânî, one of the sheikhs of the Khalidi branch of the Naqshbandi order. After the Shirvan Khanate passed under Russian rule, the family migrated from the village of Kürdemir in Shirvan first to Akhaltsikhe and then to Amasya. In 1870 Rüşdü Pasha had a tomb built for his father in Amasya; his brother, the Istanbul judge Seyyid Ahmed Hulusi Siraceddin, also lies in the tomb. Whether Hacı Mustafa Efendi and his son Enver Ahmed Efendi, in Hüsameddin's entry, were related to this family is not stated in the sources read. The use of the same nisba suggests kinship, but this is an inference and could not be verified.
The Gümüşlüzâde Quarter and the Rüşdiye
The Gümüşlüzâde quarter is named among the quarters of Amasya where Muslims and non-Muslims lived together in the first half of the 19th century. It is the quarter where Enver Ahmed Efendi was born in 1861-62. No information was found in other sources on his teaching at the Rüşdiye School, on the school's elevation to idâdî rank, or on his Persian literature courses. His date of death (1338 [1919-20]) rests on Hüsameddin's "it was heard"; it is not a certain record.
Hüsameddin's Teacher
In the last sentence of the entry Hüsameddin says he read Persian with Enver Ahmed Efendi. The entry is thus the author's personal record of his own teacher; there is no information on Enver Ahmed Efendi's poetry or writings.
