In Modern English

He was from Amasya. He was the son of Mehmed; he was seen recorded as "İbrâhim Mehmed Amasya" in the thirty-eighth silahdâr company. Having completed his period of service, since he was attached to Bayram Pasha he became kethüda of the silahdâr corps, then silahdâr agha. In 1047 [1637-38] he fell into disfavour and was dismissed; through the intercession of Bayram Pasha he was saved from execution. At that time, upon the death of Ahmed Agha, he was sent to Amasya in his place, in the form of retirement, as sheikh and naqib of the Sultan Bayezid imaret. In Dhu'l-Hijja 1054 [1645] he was dismissed from office and then died. Genceli Veli Bey was appointed in his place.

Bayram Pasha and Amasya

Bayram Pasha, to whom İbrâhim Agha was attached, served as grand vizier from 2 February 1637 to 26 August 1638. His tie to Amasya is strong: on learning of the city's water shortage he spent twenty thousand kuruş from his own pocket and brought new water, had fountains and a caravanserai built, and bought a large garden and had a Mevlevî lodge built. İbrâhim Agha's dismissal in 1047 coincides with Bayram Pasha's grand vizierate.

The Sultan Bayezid Imaret

The imaret of the Bayezid II Complex in Amasya is the part of the complex, built in 1485-86, where food was given to the poor. The post to which İbrâhim Agha was sent as "sheikh and naqib" in the text must be connected with the administration of this waqf; the text gives no detail of the post, and this is an inference.

No information about İbrâhim Agha himself or about his successor Genceli Veli Bey was found in other sources.
