The Egyptian War

The "Egyptian war" in the text is the war between the Ottomans and the Mamluks that began in 1485 and ended in 1491 with a treaty returning to the old borders. Among the causes of the war are counted disputes over the water routes of the Hijaz and the safety of pilgrims. The year 893 (1487-88) given by Hüsameddin falls in the middle of this war; Hacı İsâ Bey's becoming mirliva (sanjak governor) describes his rise from command of the sipahis to a sanjak governorship.

No information was found in any other source on Hacı İsâ Bey's lineage or on the reason he was known by the epithet Âbâdzâde. Who Bâyezîd Bey, named in the entry as his uncle, was is also not stated. No separate record was found either for his son Mîrzâ Bey and his daughter Belkıs Hatun.
