Halvetism in Amasya

The Halvetî order spread in Amasya through Pîr İlyâs Amâsî (d. 833/1429); the attribution by some researchers of this to Bayezid II's governorship of Amasya is not considered correct. It is written that the first lodge established in Anatolia under the name Halvetiyye was Pîr İlyâs's Gümüşlüoğlu Tekke in Amasya. In the city, the Çilehâne, Şamlar, Şehre Küstü, Kuşbaz, Hızır Pasha, Çevikce, Meydan, Sâdeddîn, Hoca Sultan, Ehlullah and other Halvetî tekkes are listed. With which of these tekkes the "Şeyh Aydın" to whom İbrâhim Halvetî of the entry was attached, and his own zawiya, were associated could not be established in the studies consulted. What place the word "Köprülü" in the text points to is also not clear from the entry.

In Merzifon there is the tomb of a dervish known as "Piri Baba"; this person, described by Evliya Çelebi, was a mystic who came from Khorasan. Since no link could be established between him and Hüsameddin's İbrâhim Halvetî, they should not be confused because of the similarity of names. No information on the man of the entry was found in any other source.
