Amasyalıdır. Amasya müftüsü Mevlânâ Zeyneddîn Halîl bin Mevlânâ Tâceddîn İbrâhim bin Mevlânâ Hatîb Mehmed Çelebi mahdûmudur. Amcası Allâme Hatîbzâde Muhyiddîn Mehmed Efendi’den tahsîl-i ulûm edib İstanbul’da ders-i âm oldu.
“Tercüme-i Şakâyık”da Mecdî Mehmed Efendi’nin beyânı üzere ba’zı medârise müderris olduktan sonra İznik’de Orhaniye, Bursa’da Sultâniye, ba’dehû İstanbul’a gelip Fatih’in Sekiz medresesinden birine müderris oldu. Ancak su’i [75] mizâc ve za’f-ı külliye mübtelâ olduğundan tashîh-i mizâc etmek üzere Bursa’da Sultân Murâd-ı Gâzi Medresesi müderrisi olarak oraya gitdi. 920’de orada vefât etdi. Âlim, kerîm, münzevî idi.
“Şakâyık-ı Nu’mâniye” bu zâta Hatîbzâde Muhyiddîn Mehmed Efendi bin Tâceddîn İbrâhim Efendi’nin birâderi kaydetdiği halde Amasya’da elde etdiğim evrâk-ı resmiyede 886’da Amasya nâibi Hatîbzâde İbrâhim bin Halîl olduğu görüldü. 888’de Dârende kadısı iken Şehzâde Sultân Cem tarafdârı zannedilerek azledilmiş, ba’dehû berat-ı zimmeti zâhir olduğundan Amasya’da Hüseyniye, ya’nî Büyük Ağa müderrisliği verilmişdi.
In Modern English
He was a native of Amasya. He was the son of Mevlânâ Zeyneddîn Halîl, mufti of Amasya; Halîl was the son of Mevlânâ Tâceddîn İbrâhim; and he in turn was the son of Mevlânâ Hatîb Mehmed Çelebi. He learned from his uncle, the great scholar Hatîbzâde Muhyiddîn Mehmed Efendi, and gave public lectures in Istanbul.
According to what Mecdî Mehmed Efendi relates in the "Tercüme-i Şakâyık", after becoming müderris at some madrasas, he was müderris at the Orhâniye in Iznik and the Sultâniye madrasas in Bursa, and then came to Istanbul and became müderris at one of the Eight Madrasas of the Conqueror. However, since he was seized by a disorder of temperament and a general weakness, he went to Bursa as müderris of the Sultan Murâd-ı Gâzî Madrasa in order to restore his temperament. He died there in 920 [1514-15]. He was a scholar, generous, and fond of seclusion.
Although the "Şakâyık-ı Nu'mâniyye" records this man as the brother of Hatîbzâde Muhyiddîn Mehmed Efendi son of Tâceddîn İbrâhim Efendi, from the official documents I obtained in Amasya it was found that in 886 [1481-82] Hatîbzâde İbrâhim son of Halîl is seen as deputy kadı of Amasya. In 888 [1483], while kadı of Dârende, he had been dismissed on the suspicion of being a supporter of Prince Sultan Cem; then, when he was found to be clear, he was given the professorship of the Hüseyniye, that is, the Büyük Ağa Madrasa, in Amasya.

The Hatîbzâde Family
Hatîbzâde Muhyiddîn Mehmed Efendi, called the "uncle" in the text, was a teacher known as a scholar of fiqh and kalam, who died in 1496 (901). According to the TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi, he was born in Kastamonu, received his first education from his father Tâceddîn İbrâhim, who was a müderris in Iznik, began service at the Orhan Gazi Madrasa in Iznik, and around 1470 was transferred to the Sahn-ı Semân Madrasa founded by the Conqueror. For a time he was the Conqueror's private teacher, and was then removed from the palace because of his disputatious temperament. Kemalpaşazâde and İbrîzâde are also counted among his students. His grave is in the vicinity of Eyüpsultan, near the tomb of Ali Kuşçu. In some publications the birthplace is given as Amasya and the birth date as 1460; this information does not agree with the encyclopedia entry's Kastamonu record.
The interesting point in Hüsameddin's text is that he sets his own found documents against Taşköprîzâde's Şakâyık. The Şakâyık counts İbrâhim as Muhyiddîn's brother; Hüsameddin, from Amasya documents, shows that he was the son of the mufti Halîl, that is, Muhyiddîn's nephew. This genealogical reckoning is also consistent with the encyclopedia's information: Muhyiddîn's father is Tâceddîn İbrâhim, and İbrâhim's grandfather bears the same name. It is also written that the same Tâceddîn İbrâhim was the tutor of Prince Alâeddîn in Amasya in the 1440s; the family mentioned in the entry belongs to the ulema of Amasya in the era of the princes.
The accusation of closeness to Prince Cem shows that after Bayezid II's accession (1481) the struggle for the throne extended even to provincial districts such as Dârende. His dismissal from the kadılık of Dârende and his appointment to the professorship of the Hüseyniye Madrasa in Amasya rest on Hüsameddin's own documents; this detail was not found in any other source.
