He was a native of Amasya. He was the son of Şeyh Mehmed Çelebi of Çorum; he was the brother of the kazasker Alâeddîn Ali and of Lütfullah Çelebi, one of the masters of the imperial divan. He studied in Amasya, received his license (icazet) from the sultan's teacher Hatîb Kâsım Efendi, and gave public lectures. Afterwards he became müderris and kadı, and, serving several times as deputy kadı of Amasya, had drawn close to Prince Sultan Ahmed. Although he had been wronged and retired in 918 [1512-13], he died in 924 [1518].

The Price of Closeness to Prince Ahmed
The date 918 in the entry is the year of the war between Prince Ahmed and Selim. Ahmed gathered forces in Amasya, was defeated at Yenişehir in the spring of 1513, and was executed. The situation Hüsameddin describes as "menkûb and mütekâid" is one of the consequences experienced by many people regarded as close to Ahmed at Selim's accession. Entries 6-92, 6-95, 6-98 and 6-99 of the same volume also mention the same year as a breaking point.
No source matching the man's brother the kazasker Alâeddîn Ali and Lütfullah Çelebi, or the sultan's teacher Hatîb Kâsım Efendi, as mentioned in this entry, could be found. The entry "Alâeddîn Ali Çelebi" (d. 1543) that came up in the search describes a müderris who studied under Abdülvâsi' Çelebi in Edirne and became kadı of Bursa; in terms of family and birthplace it could not be matched with Hüsameddin's kazasker. Nor was any trace of Şeyh Mehmed Çelebi of Çorum found in another record.
