In Modern English
He was a native of Amasya. He was the son of Abdullah Bey, one of the zeamet-holding sipahis of Amasya; Abdullah Bey was the son of Eretna Bey; he was the son of Alâeddîn Ali Bey; he was the son of Nâsıreddîn Mehmed Bey; and he in turn was the son of Sultan Eretna Han. He was the son-in-law of Burak Bey, son of Şâdî Bey, and while a zeamet-holding sipahi he later went to Edirne and became one of the beys. In the time of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror he was bey of Bursa and stayed there for quite some time. Afterwards he settled in Edirne and, for the expenses of a mosque he had built in the Janissary Square, endowed his properties in Edirne and İnegöl as a waqf in 872 [1467-68]. He died in 877 [1472-73].
That in the waqf deed registered with the General Directorate of Waqfs he is described as "the pride of the generous beys, lord of the great rulers, refuge of the weak and the orphans, supported by the aid of the All-Knowing Master of the Realm, İbrâhim Bey son of Abdullah Bey" shows that he was of royal descent. It is explicitly written that the mutawalliship of the waqf was stipulated for his son Burak Bey and his children. Burak Beyzâde İskender Bey was famous as an Eretnazâde.

A Bey of Eretna Descent
Sultan Eretna was the head of the Eretna Principality founded around Sivas and Kayseri. Amasya too came for a time under the dominion of this principality; around 1360 Hacı Şadgeldi broke away from the Eretna Principality and acted independently. That İbrâhim Bey in the text is presented as a descendant five generations after Sultan Eretna, and that he is spoken of in the lofty words of the waqf deed, suggests that his lineage was still respected. The marriage tie with the Şadgeldi family also shows two dynasties of Amasya drawing close to one another.
On the mosque in the Janissary Square in Edirne and the waqf's properties in Edirne and İnegöl, no source mentioning İbrâhim Bey was found in my searches. No record under this name was seen in general publications on the mosques and waqfs of Edirne; the information therefore rests solely on the waqf deed record transmitted by Hüsameddin. The waqf deed, with its dates and titles, is the most important document on the man's life and can be regarded as Hüsameddin's own finding.
