His biography is among those of the scholars written below under the name Kemâleddîn İbrâhim Efendi. İbrâhim Efendi son of Osmân, among the judges and scholars, died in 987 [1579-80], and another, Kâtipzâde İbrâhim Efendi son of Mehmed Çelebi, died around 1000 [1591-92]. These too were among the notables of Amasya.

Dede Cöngî
İbrâhim Kemâleddîn Efendi, named at the head of the entry, appears in the sources under the name Dede Cöngî. His father's name is given as Yahşî (Bahşî); he was born into a leather-tanning family in the village of Sonusa (today's Uluköy) near Amasya. It is related that he worked as a tanner until 920 [1514] and after that turned to madrasa study. He trained in fiqh, Qur'anic exegesis and Arabic literature; in 935 [1528-29] he became a mülazım at the Bayezid Pasha Madrasa in Bursa, and later taught in madrasas at Tire, Merzifon, Diyarbakır and Aleppo.
In 957 [1550] he became professor at the Süleymaniye Madrasa in İznik. In February 1558 he was appointed mufti of Kefe (Caffa) and remained in that post until July 1565, when he withdrew on account of old age. He is reported to have died in 975 [1567]. Dede Cöngî is among the Amasya scholars who appear in biographical works of the "Zeyl-i Şakâyık" type that Hüsameddin cites; his path from work in leather to the madrasa, unlike that of the families in other entries of this book, shows the rise of an ordinary craftsman's son through learning.
The Two İbrâhim Efendis at the End of the Text
At the end of the text Hüsameddin briefly mentions two judges from Amasya: İbrâhim Efendi son of Osmân (died 987) and Kâtipzâde İbrâhim Efendi son of Mehmed Çelebi (died around 1000). No details about these two could be found in other sources.
