Âşık Pasha and the Family of Baba İlyas
Hüsameddin names Zahîreddîn Oğuzhan Bey as the brother of Âşık Pasha. Âşık Pasha, the author of the Garibnâme, was named Ali; he was born in Kırşehir in 1272. His grandfather Baba İlyas came from Khorasan to Anatolia and settled in Amasya; he was seized during the Baba Resul rebellion and shut up in Amasya Castle. Âşık Pasha's father Muhlis Pasha was Baba İlyas's youngest son. Hüsameddin's information and the encyclopedia account do not agree: Hüsameddin writes that Muhlis Pasha fled to Egypt in 1303 and died at Kûs in 1309; in the encyclopedia account Muhlis Pasha was a baby in swaddling clothes during the rebellion, was taken to Egypt at the age of seven, returned seven years later, and was alive in the time of Osman Gazi. Âşık Pasha is written to have died in 1332 (733) and to be buried in Kırşehir; the "Alâeddîn Alî Âşık Pasha" of Hüsameddin is most probably the same person (an inference). Âşık Pasha was for a time vizier to Timurtaş Pasha, governor of Anatolia, and went to Egypt when he became involved in political events. This is consistent with Oğuzhan Bey's attachment to Timurtaş and the subsequent mention of Egypt.
Timurtaş, Eretna and Şeyh Hasan
When Timurtaş, son of Emir Çoban, fled to Egypt in 1327, he left his brother-in-law Alâeddin Eretna in his place. In 1337-38 Eretna took the administration of Anatolia into his hands; he rejected the offer of submission from Çobanlı Little Şeyh Hasan. In 1343 he defeated Şeyh Hasan at Karanbük; in December of the same year Şeyh Hasan was killed by his wife. The Şeyh Hasan on whom Hüsameddin says Oğuzhan Bey relied in 738 is most probably this Hasan; the encyclopedia calls him "Çobanlı Şeyh Hasan, son of Demirtaş", while Hüsameddin says "son of Timurtaş". The place of Amasya in these struggles and the killing of Ya'kûbşah are not narrated in the sources read; the date 744 (1343-44) falls in the same period as Şeyh Hasan's death, but any link between the two is an inference.
Mecitözü
Mecitözü, where Oğuzhan Bey took refuge, lies 37 km from Çorum, on the Çorum-Amasya road. For a long time it was part of the sanjak of Amasya in the province of Sivas, and after 1916 it was attached to Çorum. No information was found in other sources on Alâeddîn Saltık Bey, Emir of Mecitözü. No record was found in other sources of the names Dündar Bey and Oğuzhanlılar either.
