Family and Name

The entry introduces the grandson of the Halveti sheikh Sofu Üveys Çelebi, described in the previous entry; according to the chain Hüsameddin gives, Veysî Çelebi is a member of the family called the Üveys Oğulları. The name Veysî looks like a shortened form of the name Üveys; in this family and in neighbouring entries Hüsameddin uses the forms Üveys, Veysî and Vâyis side by side. This is an inference; the text does not explain it.

His Teacher and Career

Who his teacher "Seyyid Muhyiddin Efendi of Hakâla" was, and where Hakâla lay, could not be determined in the sources read. In which madrasas Veysî Çelebi taught, in which towns he served as kadı, and where he died are also not written in the text. No information on Veysî Çelebi or his father Fethullah Çelebi was found in other sources.
