Alaybeyi and Sanjak Bey

The alaybeyi is the highest commander of the timar-holding sipahis in a sanjak and the sanjak bey's most important military assistant. When campaigns began, he would gather the timar holders of his region and the sipahis they were obliged to raise, and join the sanjak bey. Alaybeyis were appointed at the wish of the sanjak bey or beylerbey, and were likewise dismissed at their wish or that of the judge. It was possible for an alaybeyi to rise to a sanjak governorship; İbrâhim Bey's career follows this path.

No information was found in other sources about the Abdîbeyzâde family or İbrâhim Bey's post in Belgrade.
