In Modern English

He was from Merzifon. Because he was the son of the kadı Halîl Efendi he was called "Kadızâde". He was a sipahi; he became administrator of the sultan's waqfs in Merzifon, then voyvoda of Merzifon, and during Kara Mustafa Pasha's deputy governorship (kaymakamlık) became mîr-livâ (sanjak governor), and died in late 1095 [1684]. He was a brave warrior among the great beys. This was learned from the building-tax register (defter-i müsakkafât) of Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha.

Another is İbrâhim Bey, Hacı Beyzâde. He was the son of Halîl Ağa of Amasya and the brother of Ahmed Pasha. He too was among the holders of zeamets (large military fiefs), then became sanjak governor and died in 1097 [1686].

Kara Mustafa Pasha was born around 1634-35 in the village of Mirince near Merzifon, became grand vizier in 1676, and was executed in Belgrade on 25 December 1683 after the failure at Vienna. The complex he had built in Merzifon (consisting of a mosque, madrasa, library, inn, bath and market) was begun in 1666-67 and completed in 1679. Posts such as administrator of the sultan's waqfs and voyvoda belonged within this waqf and tax system.
