In Modern English

He was from Amasya. He was the son of Pîrî Ağa, Çelebi Mehmed Ağazâde, of the Georgians settled in Amasya. This is how it is written in the waqf deeds of Kara İbrâhim Pasha, in the sharia court registers of Amasya, and in the Ferâşet Defteri kept in the cellar of Hagia Sophia. Only in the Ferâşet Defteri is he recorded as "İbrâhim Ağa bin Pîrî Bey Mütedeyyînzâde". During the mîrâhûr period of Bayburdluzâde Kara İbrâhim Pasha he joined his ağas; in 1085 [1674-75] he came to his home town as mütevelli of the Sultan Bayezid waqfs in Amasya. During the said pasha's vizierate he was his kethüda, and at the beginning of 1095 [December 1683] he became the grand vizier's kethüda.

In Muharrem 1097 [1685-86], on his master's dismissal, he became governor of Damascus with the rank of vizier, but was dismissed after a short time, and in Cemâziyelâhire 1098 [April-May 1687] he became muhafız (commander) of Temeşvar. But because he treated the people of the fortress very cruelly and harshly, he was killed by the people in Safer 1099 [December 1687-January 1688]. This event is written in the Ferâşet Defteri and recorded in the Silahdâr Tarihi. He was called Gürcü İbrâhim Pasha and Gürcüzâde Kör İbrâhim Pasha. His son Bıyıklı Mehmed Pasha was also among the viziers.

Kara İbrâhim Pasha's Georgian Kethüda

Pîrî Ağazâde İbrâhim Ağa is one of the men of Amasya who rose in the retinue of Kara İbrâhim Pasha; in the Bayburdluzâde entry (6-132) it is said that he is written as kethüda in the waqf deed and the Amasya registers. When his master was removed from the grand vizierate, he was sent as governor of Damascus with the rank of vizier, then dismissed after a short time and made muhafız of Temeşvar. From Hüsameddin's other entries it is also understood that the Georgians were a settled community in Amasya and held an important place under Ottoman administration.

His Death at Temeşvar

Hüsameddin writes that he died at the hands of the people of the fortress. In one study it is told that an İbrâhim Pasha, muhafız of Temeşvar, was killed by the fortress soldiers, who claimed that their salaries had not been paid, that his goods were plundered, and that the commander-in-chief in Belgrade then moved toward Temeşvar; the event is dated to the year 1688. The Safer 1099 that Hüsameddin gives is roughly the same period. However, since in that study the pasha is called "of Ahıska", it is difficult to regard it as certain that this record belongs to the same person as Pîrîzâde. Hüsameddin's own reason (cruelty to the people of the fortress) and the soldiers' reason of salaries do not exclude each other, but neither do they confirm each other.

Bıyıklı Mehmed Pasha

Of his son Bıyıklı Mehmed Pasha, Hüsameddin says only that he is "among the viziers". No separate record was found about him.
